New challenges & solutions for modifications of the latest VAG Group vehicles!

(German version) Volkswagen AG has introduced new security changes restricting the access to the newest models. They added an extra security layer – Vehicle Diagnostic Protection (also known as SFD – Schutz Fahrzeug Diagnose) which requires authorization between the vehicle and manufacturer and does not allow vehicle modifications without providing additional information (email, basic personal info and enabled Two-Factor Authentication ). Voltas IT, the manufacturers of professional Bluetooth diagnostic device – OBDeleven, fulfilled the strict security requirements of Volkswagen AG that enabled the device to communicate directly with Volkswagen servers for unlocking control units without any additional fee. OBDeleven became the first Third-party diagnostic tool that allows real-time SFD unlocking.

Vehicle Diagnostic Protection (SFD) was made to capture the information on who and when has made modifications to the control unit. It applies to the models manufactured from 2020 with the MQB Evo (VW Golf 8, Škoda Octavia IV, Seat Leon IV, Audi A3 8Y, etc.) and the MEB (VW ID.3, ID.4, Škoda Enyaq, etc. ) platforms, restricting such features as adaptations, coding, parametrizations. Control units protected by SFD: Engine Electronics, Central Electrics, Instrument Cluster, Gateway, Multimedia Unit, etc.

So, if the owner of Golf VIII wants to unlock some hidden features of his car, such as activating mirror dip in reverse or adjusting light settings, he needs to use a diagnostic device, which provides a possibility to unlock SFD. For this he will have to purchase an official dealership account (known as GeKo) or buy one time unlocking subscription (called SFD unlock tokens), more likely he will also need a computer and special adapter. And OBDeleven can unlock all the mentioned features and much more without any additional costs, additional efforts or additional equipment.

OBDeleven can be useful not just for the mentioned Golf owner, but also for other car enthusiasts when they need to change the basic instrument cluster display to more sporty view, activate an ability to watch movies while vehicle is moving; turn on the hidden parameters in the instrument cluster (such as transmission temperature), turn on the activation of turn signals when locking or unlocking the car and other hidden features. All this can be done by using pre-made coding applications – One Click Apps – created to empower daily users for car features unlocking easily.

When it comes to professional use, OBDeleven can offer all the functionality of dealership level equipment. But changing adaptations or long coding manually advanced users also face the SFD protection. With other devices they need to perform a sequence of complex actions for unlocking SFD, while OBDeleven can do it automatically without a need to copy long rows of various numbers and wait to get a response. OBDeleven – a cloud-based professional diagnostics software, which can diagnose and customize VAG group vehicles via mobile application.
