The Jetta with the experienced Salt Flats driver Scott Goetz at the wheel was now 338,15 km / h (210,16 miles per hour) in this discipline, making it the “World of Speed” event of the Utah Salt Flats Racing Association (USFRA) set a new class record. The Jetta started with a modified version of the current 2,0-liter TSI engine and was developed by the Bonneville specialists THR Manufacturing based in Ventura, California.
The Jetta got in addition to a large advertising stickers also technical changes outside to ensure that a drag coefficient of only cW 0,27 is achieved. New connecting rods, pistons, valves, camshafts, turbochargers and a specially adapted exhaust system in the engine with basic block and factory crankshaft for a performance of 600 PS (441 kW) at dizzying 8500 revolutions per minute. Not to be missed was of course a special lowering, a limited slip differential and special salt flat wheels + tires.
