Reading time 3 Minutes
The vacation time is often also the travel time. Many drive abroad by car. But if you don't follow the rules, you often have to pay a lot of money. Anyone planning to go abroad by car should in advance inform about which laws apply there and should strictly adhere to them. In particular Alcohol at the wheel is more strictly regulated in other countries than in Germany.
Czech Republic, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia: 0,0 per mille
The 0,0 alcohol limit applies in Hungary, the Slovakia, Czech Republic and Romania. In Germany, this rule is usually only valid for novice drivers in their probationary period and for all drivers up to the age of 21. The alcohol limit in Poland is 0,2 and 0,3 in the Netherlands. Often the limit is 0,5 per mille, as in Germany (D), and with failure symptoms it is 0,3 per mille.
What fines threaten for drinking and driving abroad!
Penalties are usually high. For example in the UK there is no upper limit for the fine, in Denmark a whole month's salary can be due and it can cost up to 1.100 euros in Poland. It can also get expensive in Switzerland (from 545 euros), in Italy from 535 euros and from 405 euros in Croatia. It should not be forgotten that in Germany, even from 0,5 per thousand, 500 euros, two points in Flensburg and a driving ban of one month are due.
In Sweden it gets expensive for speeders!
Outside of home, drivers can lift their foot on the accelerator better. A penalty of more than 460 Euro can be due to anyone in Norway more than 20 km / h is traveling too fast. More than 235 euros are due for this in Sweden. In Germany it is (currently) only 35 euros. At over 50 km / h it is up to € 2.180 in Austria, € 600 in Spain and € 1.500 in France. In Switzerland it depends on the monthly earnings. However, more than 60 daily rates are to be expected. From 240 euros are due for 50 km / h over it in Germany.
