Taxis and rental cars are inspected every 12 months
Taxis and rental cars are exempt from the usual rule with regard to the 36 months for newly registered vehicles and 24 months for used vehicles. From the beginning you have to (so every 12 months) for the main inspection and thus ALWAYS only receive a sticker for 12 months. Any why is this the case? The circumstances for so-called "Self-drive rental vehicles" can be read in Appendix VIII to the StVZO.
There it says: "If vehicles that are subject to inspection are rented out commercially without the provision of a driver, without being approved for the lessee, the deadline for the main inspection is twelve months in all cases". info: The following image can be downloaded with a right click and is then in greater resolution present.
Why? It is assumed that the vehicles will be driven a lot, and of course with many drivers due to the rental. Such a user / renter naturally cares much less about the condition of the car. This is why such a vehicle has to go through a general inspection more often.
Bought a rental car / taxi - what now?
If you buy such a rental vehicle or taxi as a private person, then the interval for the general inspection becomes again rearranged. But here, too, there are things to consider. For example, some rental cars are only registered for a day, a few weeks or a few months and are then deregistered immediately or sold to private individuals. Is the car maximum 6 months old, then it still runs as New cars and receives another 3 years TÜV (Annex VIII to the StVZO). But it only works for registered self-drive rental vehicleswho are in short-term rental (less than 7 months, i.e. a maximum of 6 months) were registered as a rental vehicle. Specifically: If there is a change of owner within the first 7 months after the initial registration and the HU, the HU period is set at 36 months again. Attention: But it can vary from state to state Differences give.
Of course, that wasn't the end of it.
