Negative report for components on the vehicle? What is that, actually?

A pair of Negative opinion is a special report from a technical service such as Dekra or TÜV. The negative report specifies the circumstances under which, for example, the “disabling” of an airbag in the vehicle does not require acceptance. The aim is to ensure that the operating license for the vehicle remains in place for use on public roads. In the negative report that is drawn up, it is specified which special manufacturer regulations must be observed when “disabling the function”. Would you like one Airbag retrofit adapter and continue to use the vehicle on the public road, an expert opinion or a negative opinion is required in any case. This also applies to changes to the side airbag system, etc.

Preparation of negative reports: rare!

Such negative opinions are usually however barely carried out. At least one cannot make a general statement as to whether such a negative report can be drawn up and whether it will be handed out. Here it definitely needs the previous clarification with the appropriate testing organization. In other words, a simple phone call with an explanation of the facts should already provide information. Incidentally, depending on the manufacturer, negative reports also lead to certain Components / spare parts / accessories Supplied instead of a general operating permit or a parts certificate. Such a negative opinion is, however synonymous with an acceptance obligation by TÜV & Co. So you can not Simply drive carefree through the area with the negative report in the glove compartment and present it to the next police check!
