There is hardly a new vehicle that does not have it - LEDs outside but also inside. At the latest with the framework directive EUP 32/2005 of the EU climate protection program, which led to the EU regulation 1/2009 / EC since September 2009, 244, the incandescent lamp in the household has been certified as being almost dead. But it still looks completely different in the automotive sector! Here applies to no way old bulb out and economical bright LED purely. While the manufacturers provide a real match who builds the best LED headlights, this is extremely difficult in the aftermarket. But even in 2-4 years, it is expected that more cars with LED than with halogen or xenon headlights will be on the road. But you can not make the conversion yourself!
The conversion of an existing headlamp is prohibited. At least in the European Union. The EU justifies that the light source of a headlight is precisely matched to the lenses and reflectors and ensures that the light cone arrives exactly where it should. It's a shame because there are LED models from Osram, Ring, Philips or Nighteye, for example, and these are partially approved as an option for H4 / H7 headlights with reflector and diffuser, such as in a VW Golf III, a Mini and even in projection systems such as the Hyundai i30 - but only in the USA or Asia. The interior doesn't look any better. Most of the offered LEDs are not allowed according to the StVZO.
Interior lighting on the dashboard must not dazzle the driver or other road users under any circumstances. Here, too, only lights that are officially approved and on are permitted check icon bring. LED's can almost never do that and are therefore strictly speaking illegal. So you have to make in the interior either ensure that no brightness penetrates directly to the outside or the LEDs are turned off while driving. As an example we would like to mention the footwell of the car here. The light is allowed here not shine over the lower edge of the window. Systems like that LEDambient from Osram on the other hand, they work as an uncomplicated retrofit solution for car interior lighting and are permitted.
