Panerai and BRABUS enter into a bold new partnership

The luxury watch manufacturer Panerai is now working with the cutting-edge technology and luxury brand BRABUS. To celebrate the start of the new partnership, Panerai introduces its first skeleton automatic movement. The design of these bold high-end watches is inspired by the BRABUS “Shadow Black Ops” boats. Panerai, a globally popular watch brand with roots in Swiss watchmaking and high-quality Italian design, is joining forces with BRABUS, a German luxury and technology brand specializing in high-performance vehicles. The collaboration will combine the design DNA and identity of both companies in a range of exclusive watch products, thereby increasing the reach and presence of both brands in the watchmaking and boating sectors.

Panerai & BRABUS partnership

Panerai and BRABUS enter into a bold new partnership

Panerai and BRABUS, both unconventional forces in their respective fields, share a passion for the maritime world. The origin and history of Panerai are inextricably linked with the development of diving watches, the character and design of which perfectly match the model range of the BRABUS “Black Ops” luxury boats. Each of the two companies brings decades of experience to this partnership. Together they will develop innovative products that represent the maritime activities of both companies and invest this potential in new ideas, innovative technologies and new materials for this type of product.

it's not just about a logo

“When we talk about partnership, it's not just about a logo. It extends from the highest levels down to the smallest details. We mutually offer each other complementary knowledge, skills and synergies with regard to products, sales and key markets. The ideas, materials and technologies of our brands will be a vehicle to develop concepts that are both disruptive and spectacular. All of these elements are combined in order to achieve results and added value for the benefit of our customers in terms of service, trading concepts and calibres, ”explains Panerai CEO Jean-Marc Pontroué.

The logical and befitting first result of the creative maritime collaboration between Panerai and BRABUS is the Panerai Submersible S BRABUS Black Ops Edition (PAM01240), a limited edition of Panerai's diver's watch, which has been known for years and which, as a testimony to the roots of both brands in technology and craftsmanship, is also the very first Panerai watch with a skeletonized automatic caliber. The skeleton design is also emphasized by the additional letter “S” in the name of this watch.

The P.4001 / s movement has a one-piece, eccentrically arranged flywheel, which allows it to be wound in both directions. The two barrels efficiently wind the watch while it is being worn. The oscillating rotor weight made of tungsten, a shiny metal with high density, allows the movement and thus the watch itself to be made significantly thinner and lighter. At the same time, the balance wheel with stop function and the seconds reset device make it possible to synchronize the time with a reference time signal. The new movement was developed from the P.4000 caliber and completely developed and manufactured in the Panerai factory in Neuchâtel.

The Panerai Submersible S BRABUS Black Ops Edition (PAM01240), available in a limited series of just 100 pieces, is the product of three years of development that has resulted in features such as a patented polarized date display. This means that the date display can only be seen through the opening at 3 o'clock, without obscuring the mechanics of the skeletonized movement.

The watch with a diameter of 47 millimeters has a unidirectional rotating bezel for calculating dive time, GMT function, AM / PM display and a three-day power reserve, the sapphire glass disc display is filled with Super-LumiNova ™. "If you compare them to one another, the similarities between the Panerai Submersible watches and the BRABUS Marine boats in terms of design language and overall character are obvious and striking. Both are functional and stylish tools for life in the maritime environment and so our cooperation is simply logical”, Says Constantin Buschmann, the CEO of BRABUS.

With the Panerai Submersible S BRABUS Black Ops Edition (PAM01240), the adaptation of the palette of the colors Gunmetal Gray, Black and Red typical for BRABUS boats reinforces these similarities and brings both product lines closer together. As a logical homage to the frequent use of innovative and high-quality composite materials by both brands, the choice fell on a dark gray Carbotech watch case.

The minute hand, the hour hand and the small second hand are accented in BRABUS red and the BRABUS brand emblems are attached to the protective bracket for the crown, which is characteristic of a Panerai, on the bracelet, the movement and the case cover. The eccentrically arranged oscillating weight made of tungsten with the Officine Panerai logo can be seen through the transparent housing cover. Since the watch has no dial, the Panerai Submersible logo was immortalized on the sapphire crystal using screen printing technology. Gray Super-LumiNova ™ fills indices and hands.
