Classic Mini with Tesla drive and 300 hp from ECC!

Classic Mini with Tesla drive and 300 hp from ECC!

A classic Mini than electro monster – can this work? AND! Because tuners like Swindon Powertrain and even Mini UK have already shown that. And also the team of Electric Classic Cars (ECC) is now involved. However, in a different way. Because during the electrification of Swindon and BMW (Classic Mini Recharged) even again in an emergency can be undone, this is not easily possible when converting ECC. But the vehicle from the video, a Mini from ECC, is also clear stronger. Compared to the famous Cooper S from the Monte Carlo Rally in 1964 with around 70 hp, it is even good four times stronger. And if you look at the base vehicle that was used for the conversion, then the electrified runabout is almost ten times so strong. In 1967, the 850 Austin had only 34 hp. In combination with an unladen weight of only 660 kg, that was enough to have a lot of fun, but you can't compare it with the conversion of now. Incidentally, the vehicle had been owned by Simon since 1977, who then decided at some point to buy the classic from ECC rebuild to leave.

300 HP Mini with Tesla drive

Since the transformation, the oldi has arrived in the new age and enjoys a completely rebuilt body shell especially about one Tesla engine with approximately 300 PS as well as one Battery with 34 kWh Capacity. This should get you a good 150 miles (around 240 km) with a "normal" driving style and, by the way, make every current BMW Mini look old. It goes from 0 to 60 miles per hour (96 km/h) in just under over 5 seconds, which is only due to the low weight. If the weight on the drive axle were even higher, then the classic would easily break the 5-second mark. In this case, however, traction puts an end to the fun. Incidentally, since the conversion, the weight distribution has been an ideal 55 to 45% (F/R). But of course not only the electric motor is installed. The entire vehicle is practically reissued. And the approximately 300 hp are even joined by two Driving modes. One for that city traffic , and a track mode.

Painted in BMC Surf Blue

In addition, there is now a in the cabin Roll cage installed and behind the tiny 10 inch rims sits a special sports brake system for a reasonable delay. And the built-in concept even enables one recuperation, as in the latest e-vehicles on the market. However, like the original, ABS, power steering and other electronic helpers have to be dispensed with. Incidentally, the ECC conversion is painted in a very special original color. And in a shrill way BMC SurfBlue. And inside? There's no frills there. Instead are Bucket seats with harness belts, the classic Mini instrument panel nebst Wood Steering Wheels and the one already mentioned Roll cage to see. And the following video shows how the potent dwarf drives.
