Hartge GmbH & Co. KG

Anyone familiar with the brand BMW busy and has only a little knowledge of car tuning, he knows Herbert Hartge GmbH & Co. KG. The team acted as a vehicle tuner and small series manufacturer and produced some extremely modified vehicles based on the BMW and Mini brands. The tuner was originally founded in 1971 by racing driver Herbert Hartge in Merzig. Herbert Hartge GmbH & Co. KG has been based in Beckingen since 1974. A good 10 years later (for the year 1985) Hartge was then also listed as a recognized automobile manufacturer by the Federal Motor Transport Authority. In 2019 Herbert Hartge GmbH & Co. KG was liquidated and also removed from the commercial register. The greatest successes come from motorsport in the 1970s, where Herbert Hartge achieved many victories in circuit and hill climbs between 71 and 79 in BMW 2002 vehicles. The European Touring Car Championship and the Formula 3 Cup were also driven, and the BMW M3 from Hartge Motorsport was promised a lot for the European Rally Championship at Rally Germany. However, there was a total failure. In 1989, 1990, 1992 and 1993, with Francis Dosières at the wheel, the successes of the European Hill Climbing Championship came back. More about the company is on rolfhartge.de (now Rolfhartge GmbH).
