Manthey-Racing wins the ADAC TOTAL 24h race Nürburgring 2021

Porsche-Team Manthey-Racing wins the ADAC TOTAL 24h-Race Nürburgring 2021 for the seventh time with KW Competition Technologie. The motorsport customers of the chassis manufacturer KW automotive were very successful at the 49th edition of the ADAC TOTAL 24h Nürburgring. In addition to the overall victory of the Manthey-Racing “Grello” -Porsche with the starting number 911 with the drivers Matteo Cairoli, Michael Christansen and Kévin Estre, KW Motorsport customers celebrate numerous class wins and podium places. Second place went to ROWE RACING drivers Martin Tomczyk, Connor de Phillippi, Sheldon van der Linde and Marco Wittmann in the BMW M6 GT3 (# 98). Another top 10 place for KW Motorsport customers is fourth place for the Falken Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3 R (# 44) with drivers Klaus Bachler, Martin Ragginger, Sven Müller and Alessio Picariello. The Huber Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3 R (# 23) finished eighth and the second Falken Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3 R (# 33) crossed the finish line in ninth place.

Of the 121 registered and started racing cars, KW automotive equipped 61 vehicles with its 5-way, 4-way, 3-way and 2-way power-adjustable dampers. Thus, as in previous years, the chassis manufacturer was the largest supplier on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. In more and more customer sport programs in the automotive industry, KW suspension technology is already used ex works. These include Mercedes-AMG GT4, Porsche 911 GT3 R, Porsche Cayman GT4 CS and Toyota GR GT4 Supra. The new BMW M2022 GT4 from 3, which had its official world premiere in front of an audience at the Nürburgring 24h race, will also be delivered to BMW motorsport customers with KW Solid Piston racing dampers.

won for the seventh time

Who will win the Nürburgring 24h race in the end can never be foreseen. Every time the Green Hell writes history, as the three-time Formula 1 world champion Sir John Young "Jackie" Stewart named the most dangerous racetrack in the world. The route itself often causes tears, frustration and joy. The route, the barely existing run-off zones and the typical Eifel weather with capricious weather always cause drama. How changeable the weather was became apparent in the run-up to the official race in 2021.

While the track was largely dry in qualifying 1, qualifying 2 and qualifying 3 on Thursday and Friday, the sky opened its floodgates on Friday evening for the two top qualifying sessions. In the pouring rain, despite aquaplaning and poor visibility, the British racing driver Nick Yelloly managed to qualify the BMW M6 GT3 of KW Competition Motorsport customer and last year's winner ROWE RACING with a lap time of 10: 01.619 minutes.

once again no easy conditions at the Nürburgring

On Saturday afternoon, too, the weather was mixed and worsened from lap to lap. The performance of KW Competition motorsport customers is completely different. While at the front of the BMW M6 GT3 from ROWE RACING with starting number 1 it was a neck-and-neck race with the competitors, the second ROWE-BMW M6 GT3 (# 98) drove from starting position 25 within six laps fourth place. The two ROWE RACING BMWs took turns at the top several times. The Manthey-Racing Porsche with the starting number 911 also moved up from eleventh place on the grid to fourth place in the first laps. In sixth place, the Manthey-Racing Porsche (# 911) started the 14,5 hour race break. Fog and low clouds hindered the restart, which only took place on Sunday afternoon.

At the restart, a spectacular sprint race broke out over the Nürburgring Grand Prix track and the Nordschleife. Manthey Racing driver Kévin Estre drove the yellow-green Porsche 911 GT3 R through the Green Hell. In his laps and spectacular evasive maneuvers, it sometimes even went over hill and dale. Despite this hussar ride, the Porsche remained safely controllable with its multi-power adjustable KW Competition Solid Piston racing damper. With a lead of almost 8,817 seconds over the ROWE Racing BMW M6 GT3, the Manthey-Porsche crossed the finish line first in the Nürburgring 24h race for the seventh time.
