Ryan Tuerck fought his way through the ranks of the amateur motocross leagues in the years that followed and achieved countless podium places. The highlight of Tuerck's amateur career was 7th place in the nation at Lorreta Lynn's Amateur Nationals. At 16, he was licensed by the American Motocross Association (AMA) and at 17, Ryan was given the opportunity to travel to Canada to race. And the interest in cars also increased. His first car was a 1990 Ford Mustang with which he practiced drifting. It was succeeded by a Nissan 240sx and in 2003 Ryan attended his first official event at Raceway Park in Englishtown, New Jersey. Further stages were the Formula D, the Drift Mania Canadian Championship and later the entire Formula Drift series.
