More is not possible: Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni in the test!

[Display] According to various test reports online, the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni is the ultimate vacuum robot for many. But for the top spot in the test, it also demands a colossal price. With the well thought-out innovations such as recognizing and avoiding obstacles, better cleaning power of the mopping pads and a station that takes care of the robot cleaning itself, there are hardly any points of criticism. We can only think of the relatively massive height of the vacuum robot and the long battery charging time with a reduced runtime.

The Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni in the test: almost autonomous work

A major criticism of the wiping function of vacuum robots has always been the enormous one in the past cleaning effort, which one had despite the at most superficial wiping and polishing performance of the robot. The whole vacuum robot had to gereinigt and optional and the wipe pads exchanged will. This effort prevented the programming for regular damp mopping and the cleaning effort afterwards was often disproportionate to the yield. But the new generation of robot vacuums, to which the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni undoubtedly belongs, has addressed these problems.

  • mobile dust bag from the Ecovacs Deebot X1 OMNI is emptied using a suction station
  • Cleaning mops are washed and dried using a cleaning station
  • mobile water tank is refilled
  • The battery is charged using the charging station

The new All-in-one cleaning station sucks the dust independently into a bag, fills the water tank of the robot with fresh water and pumps the dirty water into a separate tank. And exactly these functions could be used in our (and other) Testing problem-free be implemented, but here too the own cleaning effort not quite can be avoided. Because, according to the manufacturer, the wiper pads have to be cleaned every 1 to 2 months replaced and the Four liter fresh water tank must be cleaned by hand. In addition, the station's cleaning tank must be cleaned at regular intervals brushed out and the dirty water after cleaning cast off will. But for us it is ganz normal, because after all it is a robot and not a human cleaner!

In our opinion, there are only minimal aspects for improvement in this generation. Of course, as with some classic cylinder vacuum cleaners, the dirt could also be trapped in a water container and poured away as a whole. In this way, the dust particles that sometimes cause allergies can be bound and practically disposed of. In addition, the costs for the dust bags would be saved. But that's complaining on a very high level! The design of the cleaning station could be a bit "cooler", but the robot itself was designed by a Danish design house and is visually attractive. The new All-in-one cleaning station Incidentally, not only sucks the dust picked up by the robot into a bag, but also fills the robot's water tank independently with fresh water and pumps out the dirty water. We easily forgive the station's slight "garbage can look".

High suction power, even stronger wiping power

  • Suction station
  • rotating mopping pads
  • own language assistant (“Ok Yiko”)
  • Wash station for the wipes
  • obstacle detection

Regarding the general suction and wiping performance, there is Ecovac's Deebot X1 Omni little to complain about. In our suction test, the vacuum robot pulled around 350 grams out of the distributed 200 grams of dust from the carpet in its very quiet standard level with carpet detection. This is now the expected performance for high-end robots, although of course there is always room for improvement. Ecovacs uses a common mix of slats and bristles and does without low-maintenance rubber main rollers. Unfortunately, tangled hairs still have to be released manually. But only very rarely... As soon as the vacuum robot docks at the station, the complete contents of the mobile dirt container emptied. It ends up in a large dust bag (3 liter disposable bag) in the station itself. The mobile dust bag was almost 100% vacuumed out in our test.

The circular ones mopping pads are another one worth mentioning innovation. In contrast to the microfiber wipes that are now common, these mop-like wipe pads are made of thick, long fibers. They also rotate independently, creating a mechanical scrubbing effect arises. While the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni still can't wipe up a broken bottle of ketchup on its own, it's extremely good at dealing with the superficial dirt that accumulates on a daily basis. And as soon as the dirt container is full, the water tank is empty or the battery charge is low, it automatically returns to the cleaning station. And with a well-programmed, intuitive app, it can also be used set up, monitor and even control!

Almost complete navigation!

Because of its excellent navigation performance the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni sucks our 30 m² test room completely through in just 21 minutes. Through the combination of Tower distance sensor and front-facing camera the robot can use itself to detect obstacles exceptionally fast move and reliably detects obstacles such as cables, Lego bricks, decorations, plant pots or carpet fringes. It also takes hurdles of around 1,8 cm and is just as compact with its height of around 10 cm. The detailed control app offers exceptionally many programming options, several map storage, a separately controllable zoning of the apartment and even one Real-time monitoring. In addition, a "Do not disturb" mode can be set so that the robot can also night driving doesn't wake anyone up.

Another addition is the German voice control, which always worked flawlessly in the test after the voice training. However, we see the battery life as a clear deficit. The manufacturer's specification of 140 minutes is promising, but significantly reduced compared to the previous models. And the charging time is a long six and a half hours. In the case of spacious or complex apartments, a stopover of the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni may have to be expected, which can drag the cleaning process to the end.

important points at a glance

  • Mop pads stay clean as they are cleaned at the station every 10 minutes.
  • Virtually completely automated floor cleaning thanks to the multifunction station (suction station, cleaning station).
  • Apartment can be video monitored and calls can be made.
  • Wipe function very good.
  • Obstacle detection for cleaning in a less tidy apartment.
  • Excellent handling of furnishings.
  • Very quiet vacuum robot.
  • Less maintenance intensive
