When it comes to vacuuming, opinions differ and, especially on tuningblog, very few users have an opinion on it. After all, this is about cars and every now and then motorcycles! But you also need a vacuum cleaner in a car dealership, in a workshop, at a trade fair stand, at the tuner around the corner and in many other locations around the automobile. So we have no problem testing a vacuum cleaner and giving you our opinion. So here comes a new full-size model. A vacuum cleaner with enormous suction power and even equipped with 3D obstacle detection. Curtain up for the Dreame L10 Pro. With a weight of 3,8 kilograms and dimensions of 35 x 35 x 9,7 centimeters, it is quite compact.

It is kept in timeless black. With its double laser LiDAR sensors, it has a range of eight meters, according to the manufacturer. The sensors detect obstacles such as shoes, cables or other things before the robot hits them with its bumper. This means that the floor does not have to be cleared for the robot. To do this, it has a map sensor on the right in the pressure-sensitive bumper.

The operation:

On the top there are three buttons and a small tower. The tower is for the laser distance sensor. The robot vacuum cleaner is switched on and off with the middle button. Press briefly to switch on and press for more than three seconds to switch off. A house is shown on a button so that the robot can be sent to its charging station. The last button is the spot cleaning button. Here the L10 Pro sucks on an area of 1,5 square meters.

What's behind the cover?

A hinged cover is installed behind the laser tower. Here you can find the reset button, the display of the WLAN status, the cleaning tool, the washable one HEPA-Filter, the dust container, the side brush, the main brush and an omnidirectional wheel. Incidentally, the main wheels are so well sprung that the robot can overcome obstacles up to two centimeters high, such as a door threshold.

The water tank.

The performance:

The 5.200 mAh Li-Po battery is charged with 19,8 watts. The battery is completely filled within six hours. When the remaining charge is only 15 percent, the robot automatically searches for the charging station. It then takes about 4 hours to fully charge. The manufacturer states a maximum running time of 2,5 hours in standard mode, which would be ideal for around 250 square meters of cleaning area. The L10 Pro has 4.000 Pascal Suction power.

The software and the setup:

The robot is set up using the Xiaomi Home app, which requires a Xiaomi account. In the test, the robot vacuum cleaner was recognized immediately after entering the WiFi password and the robot vacuum cleaner was immediately ready for use.

The functions of the app:

  • Automatically increase the suction power in carpet mode. This function can be switched off.
  • When should work be done? Days, start times, cleaning areas, and more.
  • Life and maintenance for the main brush, the side brush and the Hepa filter.
  • The setting of the suction power in: light, standard, strong and turbo.
  • How much water should flow when mopping? The choices are: low, medium and high.
  • The map of the suction areas can be edited: multi-floor mapping, no-go zones, no-wipe zones, virtual walls and more.
  • How loud and in which language should the announcements be made?
  • When should the "Do-Not-Distrub-Modus" be activated, in German, when shouldn't vacuuming be done?

Impressions during the practical test:

For a four-room apartment, the Dreame L10 Pro took about 65 minutes. You should also try to let the L10 Pro work without recognizing the obstacles. It might be easier for him then. That was the case with us. As long as it is in standard mode, it is quite quiet and does not disturb. If he has to work more, for example when he activates the carpet boost, it becomes significantly louder. When it comes to the mopping function, it must be clear that, due to its design, it is more likely to moisten the floor than to mop it properly.

The conclusion: Overall, the L10 Pro robot vacuum cleaner does very well. The strong suction power and the recognition of the obstacles in 3D are important details. The sensors are very helpful in households with animals and children, where something likes to lie on the floor. He drives around toys and other things through the sensors and does not push them in front of him. The manufacturer could, however, improve the wiping function. All in all, it's a good robot hoover that pays off.
