Most recently, even with an infrared camera that shows creatures and objects in front of the vehicle and conjures up a corresponding thermal image on the display. In addition, the systems have the function of issuing a warning message in the event of acute danger or otherwise drawing attention to themselves. With costs in the high four-digit range, of course, the whole thing has its price. Not quite as many functions, but the night vision device is not that expensive LANMODO Car Night Vision with 1080P camera. A 8,2 inch (approx. 21 cm) large IPS HD screen is installed which reflects the real situation in front of the vehicle in true colors with a crystal clear view and can also look 300-400 meters away. Equipped with a 36 ° HD wide angle, a complete view of the street is guaranteed. And the night vision system also helps during the day. Heavy rain, snow or fog are hardly shown, so a clear view to the front is always possible.

Optionally, the screen can even be connected to a rear-view camera, which Lanmodo naturally also has in its range. It has a viewing angle of 170 degrees and is waterproof according to the IP67 standard and with 720P transmits everything there is to see behind the vehicle. We tested the system in a car with a 12 volt connection, but thanks to an optional voltage converter, the night vision device can also be operated in a truck with 24 volt or on a bus. There are two options for installation: Variant 1 is a small base with a non-slip mat and Variant 2 is a classic suction cup for the windshield. And also included in the scope of delivery is a cable for connection to the cigarette lighter and a second variant for the OBD port. In other words, you can equip any vehicle with it and only the connection variant for vehicles with 24 volts is limited to the cigarette lighter.

The installation is done in less than 5 minutes and is self-explanatory. And the same applies to the functions on the device. There is a button bar on the top left that can be used to activate / deactivate the system, the brightness, the contrast, the black and white mode and the display variants (mirror top / bottom / right / left). The power cable also has the connection adapter for the Lanmodo Vast rear view camera, which in our case remains unused. If you have installed the camera for the rear, you can switch back and forth while driving with the push of a button.
