The traditional car seat manufacturer Recaro has surprisingly been given a future perspective. After the company filed for bankruptcy in July and was due to close permanently in October, the Italian Proma Group a breath of fresh air for the brand.
With annual sales of 1,1 billion euros and an impressive global presence, Proma takes over the operations of Recaro Automotive. From January 2025 The popular aftermarket seats will be available again. However, the supplier business will be completely relocated to Italy.
Restart with uncertainties
However, it is unclear how many of the 215 jobs in Kirchheim will be retained. The Proma Group plans to continue with a smaller team from the former sales and technical departments. Recaro's turnover of 524 million euros in 2023 shows the brand's potential, but a lost major order led to insolvency.
