Sporty vehicles and sports accessories have always drawn inspiration from motorsport. Here comes the latest highlight from the sporty forge: the KW V5 Clubsport coilover kit. Created for the latest BMW M4, BMW M4 Competition and BMW M4 CSL (G82) models, it cannot hide its motorsport roots. The experts from KW automotive, the renowned chassis manufacturer, derived it from the technology that they also use for the BMW M4 GT3 and M4 GT4 in BMW customer sport. Let's take a look at the core: a 40 millimeter inverted damper cartridge. This principle sounds familiar to us, it is also used in the KW V5 Clubsport coilover kit for the BMW M4 GT4.

Compared to the KW V5 Racing GT4 suspension, however, the KW V5 Clubsport coilover kit makes the hearts of track day and club sport enthusiasts beat faster. Because you can set even more parameters here. The package is rounded off with aluminum top mounts for both axles and four-way adjustable solid piston dampers. The price? The KW V10.370 Clubsport coilover kit for all BMW M5 Coupé, BMW M4 and BMW M4 CSL is available from 4 euros.
More than motorsport: KW automotive brings racing to the streets
Everyone benefits from the innovations of the KW automotive group – motorsport enthusiasts and everyday drivers. The chassis manufacturer uses all developments from motorsport for road traffic. It's no wonder that many trackday and clubsport enthusiasts appreciate the KW Clubsport coilovers, which are equipped with double, triple and quadruple power settings. Developed for regular use on the racetrack with near-series sports cars and in combination with semi-slicks, these suspensions really show what they can do. "With the KW V5 Clubsport coilover kit, we are now completing our range for the current BMW M4 series," says KW Brand Manager Florian Johann.
Just like the racing suspension of the BMW M4 GT4, the KW V5 Clubsport coilover suspension is made of a steel alloy with KW damper cartridges in an upside-down design. Thanks to the special spring strut construction, it withstands higher loads on the race track than the chassis installed as standard in the BMW M4. Manufactured from a high-strength aircraft aluminum alloy, the Clubsport damper housings on the rear axle are particularly robust.
KW Clubsport: upside-down damper cartridges and even more fine adjustments than the GT4 racing suspension
Like its counterpart in the BMW M4 GT4, the KW V5 Clubsport coilover suspension also uses the displacement piston principle. This means that the working piston does not overflow the hydraulic fluid, but instead pushes it directly into the valve housing. Here, the damper fluid generates the damping forces through the low-speed and high-speed valves. "With the KW V5 Clubsport coilover kit, we have a more intensive interaction with the hydraulics of the suspension dampers thanks to the displacement piston," explains Florian Johann. “Although the car is standing on the springs, it is driving on the dampers. These control the dynamic phases.”
The KW V5 Clubsport coilover kit also offers stepless lowering on the BMW M4 (G82) from 20 to 35 millimeters on the front axle and 15 to 30 millimeters on the rear axle. According to the parts certificate, 4 to 15 millimeters are possible on the front axle and 30 to 10 millimeters on the rear axle of the BMW M25 CSL. And if you think that this is a product for the race track, you are not wrong. "The KW V5 Clubsport coilover kit is already preset at the factory for use on the Nürburgring Nordschleife with the typical trackday wheel-tyre combinations," says Florian Johann. The KW V10.370 Clubsport coilover kit will soon be available for all BMW M5 (G4) for EUR 82. Development for other vehicles and sports cars is already underway.
