The countdown has begun: BMW has announced the new 1 Series with a first teaser. The compact model receives a Facelift (called LCI at BMW), which the company promises will be unveiled “soon.” Head of design Domagoj Dukec showed the side view, which, however, does not yet reveal any specific details. In Munich a facelift usually means save radical visual changes. What can be expected are revised headlights, a new light signature and a modified kidney grille. But maybe it is More as a facelift: The internal series code F70 indicates a new edition.

The interior could be based on the X1 and X2, with a new selector lever, digital displays and refreshed infotainment. And when it comes to engines, the 163 hp mild hybrid is likely, as well as petrol engines with 170 hp and 48 hp E-Boost as well as the M35i with around 300 hp from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder and with xDrive all-wheel drive. Rumors about an M1 with up to 320 hp are also circulating, but they have not been confirmed and are rather unrealistic. However, the teaser image on the M GmbH profile gives fans hope. An opponent for the Audi RS3 and Mercedes-AMG A45 would be a sensation, but seems unlikely. Photo credit / Source: BMW
