Very few people know that the South African designer Gordon Murray worked with Niki Lauda at Brabham in the 70s. And now Murray has his Racing version of the super sports car T.50 named after Niki Lauda. At McLaren and Brabham, the Durban-born South African Gordon Murray developed into a designer legend at the time. His ideas and implementation are on a par with Colin Chapman, John Barnard or Adrian Newey. And the now 74-year-old has been working on a legitimate successor to the McLaren F1 sports car for a long time. That was also drawn by him in 1989. And the T.50 should also set new standards in the super sports car segment, like the F1 back then. The vehicle no longer has anything to do with McLaren, but rather belongs to the companies Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA) and Gordon Murray Design.

And with the athlete, Murray is showing an aerodynamic direction that no manufacturer has yet chosen for a series vehicle. Because on the legendary GP racer Brabham BT46B from 1978 there was a rear Fan watch for more downforce. And that is also the case with the T50s Niki Lauda. And under the hood there is one built for the athlete Cosworth V12 engine with 725 hp and maximum 12.100 rpm for crazy propulsion. Gordon Murray on this - quote: "Formula 1 remains one of my passions, so I find it exciting to work with Racing Point on the development of the T.50. Ever since I developed the Brabham in 1978, I have always dreamed of turning this idea into a sports car. The system is much more sophisticated than it was in the GP racer. For example, we're going to use active aerodynamics with six different settings."

name suffix from former companion Niki Lauda

And now Murray has unveiled the first racing version of the super sports car in the form of the T.50s with the name suffix from former companion Niki Lauda. And the presentation shortly before midnight on February 22nd was no accident. Lauda, a three-time Formula 1 champion from Austria, would have turned 72 that day. Incidentally, the T.50s was manufactured parallel to the road version and it is intended to set new standards on the racetrack. Murray on this - quote: "The T.50s is named after Niki to honor him and his victory with the Brabham BT46B in Sweden in 1978. Not only was Niki a fabulous racing driver, he was my friend.“Back then, Murray and his colleague David Cox were digging deep into their bag of tricks and refining the system from the legendary 1970 Chaparral 2J by Jim Hall. If the main motor turned higher then, the fan at the rear also turned faster. And so that the system would not be interpreted as an unauthorized mobile aerodynamic aid, Murray had connected the fan to a radiator above the engine. So the excuse was that the fan was only serve for cooling, born. And that although the Brabham BT46 was rather easy to cool ^^.

a total of only 25 pieces are to be built

After Lauda drove to victory with it, the car was immediately banned.
