What is a part approval?

In individual cases, they may be preceded by a partial report prepared by state-recognized technical services or testing centers accredited by the KBA. These are recognized in Germany, among others, TÜV, DEKRA, GTÜ, KÜS or similar organizations. A parts certificate may only be issued if the vehicle part comes from a manufacturer who can demonstrate a quality system. The parts certificate must state the area of ​​use of the parts.

The parts report

The parts report determines the compliance of the vehicle part. The report mentions cultivation regulations, conditions and restrictions. Also there are indications for the modification acceptance according to § 19 StVZO, which is carried out after installation. The parts certificate is necessary if

• the approved type of vehicle changes according to the type approval by the installation or extension,
• the part could cause a hazard or
• the part that changes exhaust and / or noise emissions.

The parts approval may be referred to as ABG (Official Type Approval) or ABE (General operating permit), then no entry in the registration certificate is required. However, the driver must carry the ABG or ABE with him and show it on request. Also test marks do not require registration. It will mostly be the ECE mark.
