Easy handling, sporty performance and minimalist design – the KTM 390 SMC R is here to redefine the world of supermotos for A2 riders.

The KTM 390 SMC R will bring a breath of fresh air to the Supermoto scene in 2025. Weighing 154 kg in “ready to race” condition and 161 kg fully fuelled, it offers an extremely agile platform that has been optimised for the A2 class.

Compact, agile and ready

The machine almost reaches the maximum permitted power density of 0,2 kW/kg and is aimed at drivers who want a light, fast and easy-to-handle Motorrad search.

The engine: the heart of the performance

The focus is on the revised LC4c single-cylinder engine with 399 cc, which delivers 45 hp at 8.500 rpm and a maximum torque of 39 Nm at 7.000 rpm. The engine meets the strict Euro 5+ standards and has been optimized for efficiency and drivability.

The 6-speed gearbox has been redesigned for more precise gear shifting and is fitted with an anti-hopping clutch that reduces engine braking torque. A Quickshifter + available, which enables clutch-free upshifting and downshifting. The extended maintenance intervals - 10.000 km after the first oil change at 1.000 km - make the machine particularly easy to maintain.

chassis and suspension

The suspension is based on the WP APEX technologyAt the front, a 43 mm open cartridge fork with 230 mm travel ensures precision. The fork on the 390 SMC R allows tool-free adjustment of the rebound and compression levels.

At the rear, a WP APEX shock absorber is used, also with 230 mm of travel, which allows for individually adjustable rebound and preload. The seat height is 86 cm and the narrow design ensures optimal comfort and control.

wheels, tires and brakes

The machine is equipped with 17-inch spoked wheels and uses Michelin Power 6 tires in sizes 110/70 R17 front and 150/60 R17 rearThe braking system includes a 320 mm single disc with radially mounted caliper at the front and a 240 mm disc at the rear. Supermoto ABS system offers modes such as “Road”, “Supermoto” and “Supermoto+” for individual adjustments.

Design and ergonomics

The KTM 390 SMC R features a slim chassis with a 9-liter metal tank, which is positioned in front of the rider and has been integrated into the frame to save space. The exhaust is positioned under the engine for a favorable center of gravity, which improves handling and supports the minimalist rear design.

The paneling combines orange, black and white with purple accents that are reminiscent of the KTM look of the 90s.
