The Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric, also called HIM-E, is a prototype and serves as technology leader for the further development of electromobility. Royal Enfield, known for its long tradition, is taking a new direction, even if the HIM-E not is intended for series production.
Both the first version and the further developed HIM-E 2.0 were specifically designed as test platforms to test innovative technologies.
progress and technology
The HIM-E adventure bike is designed for demanding off-road tours and offers a modern look that differs from the classic Himalayan 450. Particularly striking is the minimalist frame, in which the battery serves as a load-bearing element, which provides important insights for future electric bikes.
progress and technology
The upside-down fork and the Öhlins shock absorber make it clear that the bike is not just intended for asphalt. Royal Enfield relies on innovative technologies. With wire-spoke wheels (21 inches at the front, 18 inches at the rear) and engine protection, the HIM-E shows that it is at home off-road. Supported by the start-up Stark Future, which is known for powerful electric motors, the HIM-E is used as a development platform for the future Flying Flea model series.
Initial tests were carried out in the demanding heights of the Himalayas – a challenge for any battery. Although precise data on performance and range are lacking, the HIM-E 2.0 proves that its design and technology provide important insights for the series production of the Flying Flea series liefert.
Royal Enfield clearly communicated at the Flying Flea launch and at the EICMA that the HIM-E serves exclusively as a test platform. The focus is on the recently announced founding of the Flying Flea brand - you can find out more in the video!
