From the manufacturer YI (Developer: Shanghai Xiaoyi Technology Co., Ltd.) comes a new dashcam with the suffix "Nightscape". And we ordered them and tried them out. The YI Dashcam Nightscape 1080p with type designation YCS.2A19 is a dashcam that works without a battery and is supposed to deliver fabulous pictures, especially at night. The installation is easy and quick as usual because the cam is simply connected to the cigarette connector. It comes with a Sony Starvis image processor and records videos in Full HD (1980x1080p) at 60 fps. The field of view extends over 140 degrees and using the integrated WLAN module and the free Yi APP, you can conveniently access the cam's videos via the app and even save them on the smartphone and of course the cam's SD card (not included) to save.

The non-existent battery enables the Nightscape to work reliably even in very hot or cold temperatures, which is a noteworthy advantage. And our recordings in the video below show that the STARVIS image sensor delivers colorful sharpness and brightness even at night under low light conditions. This is made possible by 6 lenses that focus the light and reproduce the finest details and color contrasts. The modern cam always guarantees a safe storage of the recordings as long as the power connection is supplied with power. Connecting the cam to our Android phone was quick and the 2,4 inch screen of the Nightscape with a vivid LCD touch screen is completely sufficient.
Size comparison with a lighter
If you want, you can even share real-time recordings and of course make a backup copy. The small dimensions and the non-reflective matt black can also be easily integrated into the car cockpit. The Nightscape Dashcam is the AI-based co-pilot with driver assistance (FAS) in the car, which, if necessary, can even sound warning signals if dangers are detected. The highlights here are the detection of driver fatigue as well as lane change and collision detection. We have tried them and, in particular due to the low entry price (under 80 €) say nothing negative.
