BYD has officially launched the “God's Eye” driving assistance system which is intended to provide more safety and comfort.
The system is in three variants offered and can be used with up to three LiDAR sensors Even the inexpensive BYD Seagull will be equipped with this technology – and for the equivalent around 8.900 Euro.
Three variants for different requirements
- "God's Eye C" The basic version is equipped with a camera system from three front cameras, five panoramic cameras and four surround view cameras. In addition, five millimeter-wave radars and twelve ultrasonic sensorsThe sensors enable 360 degree detection with a measurement accuracy of 1 cm.
- "God's Eye B" also offers a LiDAR sensor for better environmental detection. It is used in Denza and Fang Cheng Bao models as well as some high-quality BYD models.
- "God's Eye A" is the premium version with three LiDAR sensors and a computing power of 600 TOPS. This system is for BYD's luxury brand Yangwang intended.
cloud technology and artificial intelligence
BYD relies on a huge cloud database with 110.000 engineers, of those 5.000 working on the development of intelligent driving functions. Every day, 72 million kilometers of data collected that is included in the assistance system flow in.
Every vehicle with “God's Eye” is based on the Xuanji architecture, which consists of a combination of Cloud AI, vehicle AI, 5G network, satellite connection and multiple sensor and control chains consists.
NOA function for autonomous driving
The top variants "God's Eye A" and "B" support the NOA function for autonomous driving on highways and in cities. The "God's Eye C" can currently only be Expressways but will later be used by OTA update also for that city traffic be optimized.
A special highlight: At the launch, BYD showed a video in which a Yangwang U9 super sports car with "God's Eye A" completely autonomous on a race track was on the way.
Conclusion: More than just an assistance system
With the “God's Eye” system, BYD is bringing a sophisticated and powerful driver assistance system to the market. The combination of LiDAR, AI and cloud data shows where the journey with autonomous driving could lead.
