Porsche concludes its worldwide Le Mans road show with two exhibitions!

For the Porsche Heritage and Museum department, the year 2021 has the main theme “The Porsche success story at Le Mans”. 70 years ago, the company celebrated its first class win in the endurance race on the Sarthe. Today the sports car manufacturer can look back on 19 overall and 108 class victories. This makes Porsche the most successful brand in seven decades of Le Mans. On the occasion of the anniversary, the Stuttgart-based company is organizing a worldwide roadshow until February 2022 with static and dynamic appearances by 27 original class and overall winner vehicles from the historical collection. Finally, the company is planning an exhibition in the ZeitHaus of the Autostadt in Wolfsburg from November 26, 2021 to February 27, 2022 as well as in the reopened TOP Mountain Motorcycle Museum in Austria. The Porsche Museum has been exhibiting three models there since November 18, 2021.

“We are pleased to be able to present three Le Mans racing vehicles in Hochgurgl. There are also four special vehicles and numerous other exhibits in Wolfsburg, including an original engine from the legendary Porsche 917, models of the Porsche racing vehicles, gloves, helmets, suits and some Le Mans trophies, ”says Christoph Emde, curator of the Porsche Heritage and Museum external presentations .

Roadshow with 14 stations in eleven countries

As part of the roadshow, the brand is celebrating its success story at 14 stations in eleven countries, with dynamic trips to international events and exhibitions as well as in “Heritage Corners” in Porsche Experience Centers around the world. Porsche is exhibiting the following vehicles in the Wolfsburg automobile museum: 911 (type 991) RSR, 911 GT1 '98 and the 924 GTR LM, the class winner from 1981 piloted by Jürgen Barth and Walter Röhrl. The sports car manufacturer is also showing guests at the Autostadt a demo vehicle of the 919 Hybrid from 2016. Visitors can also look forward to a timeline with important figures on the success story of Porsche in Le Mans, as well as the films in the “Porsche Moments” series with host and overall Le Mans winner Timo Bernhard.

The TOP Mountain Motorcycle Museum opened its doors on November 18th and promises its guests a spectacular collection of historic motorcycles and classic cars. “In January 2021, Europe's highest motorcycle museum was almost completely destroyed by fire. The collection of several hundred historical two-wheelers fell victim to the flames, as did the rare automobiles that told their stories there. We are now looking forward to the reopening and are proud to be able to be part of the exhibition with our models, ”emphasizes Christoph Emde.
