This Mazda MX-5, also known as Miata, has undergone a radical transformation by tuning company Liberty Walk.
Wide fenders, large rims and air suspension – the conversion is definitely not for the faint of heart. It can be seen at the Tokyo Auto Salon trade fair.
classic in Liberty Walk style
The MX-5 has always been a favorite among sports car fans, thanks to the Affordability, agility and versatility. And with the LB Works body kit it is catapulted into a new league. The brand-typical, screwed fender flares give the Roadster a aggressive appearance, which goes far beyond the original version. The look is complemented by a front splitter, side skirts and a ducktail rear spoiler.
The wide Meister aluminum wheels in combination with the Yokohama Advan tires, decorated with white and red stickers, fill the oversized wheel arches. Together with the adjustable Smart Air suspension, which lowers the MX-5 almost to the ground, the roadster becomes an eye-catcher.
No additional horsepower, but still cool
In terms of performance, everything remains the same: The most powerful MX-5 ND is powered by a 2,0-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, which 184 PS (135 kW) and 205 Nm supplies. The power is transmitted via a 6-speed manual transmission or an automatic transmission, supported by a limited-slip differential on the rear axle.
The price of tuning
Anyone interested in the LB Works body kit should keep an eye on their budget. The set made of fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) starts at around 4.300 €, while the lighter version made of carbon reinforced plastic (CFRP) weighs around 5.750 € Painting and assembly are not included. Hobbyists also have the option of purchasing individual components separately. Image and video credits/source: Liberty Walk
