In December 2024, Mercedes-Benz gave the Pope a fully electric G 580, but the latest creation from Carlex Design makes it seem almost ordinary.
Carlex is known for luxurious interior upgrades, but in recent years the company has ventured into increasingly daring projects. And their latest work is a spectacular G-Class as 6×6, called “Habemus”.
Carlex 6×6 Mercedes G-Class
It only exists as a digital preview, but the renderings show a design that is unusual even for the G-Class. It is still unclear whether Carlex will use an existing, more than 1 million Euro G 63 6 × 6 or instead transform a normal G-Class into a six-wheel monster. The second option seems more likely to us.
Mix of G-Class and Gold Rush
Viewed from the front, the basic shape of the G-Class remains, but a special grill, an individual bumper and striking gold accents provide a completely new look. And from the B-pillar onwards, things get really wild.
Behind the cabin there is a large load area, which, however, are by no means for tools or Transportation Instead, in the middle there is a large, rotating seat - a concept reminiscent of the new electric G-Class Popemobile, but with significantly more space. And there are also four smaller seats on the sides of the loading area.
Luxury in the interior – typical Carlex
Since this is a Carlex project, the cabin is of course finished to the highest standard. white leather dominated, complemented by a lush red carpet, which extends over the entire loading area. In combination with the gold details, the unique G-Class clearly stands out from other tuning conversions.
Reality or dream car?
I hope we will soon find out whether the Habemus will actually be built. But even if it does happen, it is unlikely that the Pope will use it – after all, he has only recently new G 580 EQ obtained. Photo credit/source: Carlex design
