Ford Focus Mk.3 tournament as RS conversion with +400 PS!

The third generation Ford Focus RS has already matured into a legend. With its incredible performance, all-wheel drive and the limited construction time of only three model years, it has the best prerequisites to become an automobile that guarantees enormous increases in value. Especially in Great Britain, where the Ford brand has a completely different status and a completely different image than in Germany, there are many car fans who dream of a Focus RS. There it is as popular as a Golf R in this country. In contrast to the Wolfsburg, the super-sporty Ford was only available as a four-door hatchback, but never as a "Tournament“Combination version. The British tuner Shan Kahn but that doesn't bother, because he simply built his own Focus RS tournament, and today we're going to introduce it to you in more detail.

Photoshop inspired project!

In various car magazines, as is well known, photoshops of car models appear which journalists would like, but which are probably never built in series. These renderings are also popular with tuners as an opportunity to build such a car themselves, as they offer an excellent source of inspiration for new project vehicles. For example, this Focus tournament received a front and back adaptive chassis from the Focus RS, which on the front axle using Lowering springs by Eibach by 15 mm, and lowered by 20 mm on the rear axle with springs from the same manufacturer.

There were also 8 × 19 inch rims mounted by the Focus RS on the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires in the format 235/35 R19. In order to come as close as possible to the dream of the Focus RS tournament, the vehicle also received the original front bumper as well as the side skirts of the Focus top model. There were also a rear diffuser , and a RS-style rear spoiler by SS Tuning attached to the vehicle. Believe it or not, the original vehicle that was converted into the RS project was a write-off that sold on the internet for just £ 1250.

Tuner Shan bought the bargain and made his dream come true, even though he already did over a dozen owns or has had sportier Ford models that are very popular with collectors and fans of the brand, such as a Sierra RS-500 Cosworth or a Transit MS RT, a sporty version of the popular panel van that we have already reported on.

The interior is also very close to the Focus RS!

But now we come to the interior, also with the Recaro bucket seats from the Focus RS, and also over Carbon elements on the steering wheel, the handbrake lever, the shift knob and Door handles disposes. So almost nothing is reminiscent of the equally sporty ST tournament, which as an accident car was the starting point for the project.

With 2,3 liter EcoBoost four-cylinder!

Now we come to the heart of the newly built Focus, namely the engine. This owns 2,3 liter displacement and four cylinders and comes straight from a Focus RS. With help of a Stage 2 tunings it has been estimated from originally 360 hp 420 little horse pushed. Incidentally, the remapping comes from Mountune, a well-known tuner in the Ford scene. The power is transmitted via a Six-speed manual, which also comes from the Focus RS, but we don't know exactly whether the vehicle has front-wheel or all-wheel drive. Either way, the Ford is an absolute weapon on the dragstrip, and can also be used as a loadmaster for bulk purchases in the hardware store in everyday life.
