For Siebold and Hampe, traveling is a lifestyle. As successful young travel photographers and filmmakers, they spend much of their time on the road, exploring far-flung places and seeking new adventures - making them ideal testers for the latest addition to the Porsche Travel Experience. In the Black Forest and in Rheinhessen in south-west Germany, the new Roof Tent Experience combines a thirst for adventure, curiosity and a passion for Porsche. The carefully planned road trips allow guests to explore their surroundings and participate in a range of activities while spending the night under the stars on a Porsche.
Porsche Roof Tent Experience
While the Rheinhessen tour focuses on the region's famous wine culture, the Black Forest tour is dedicated to a variety of sporting challenges in nature during a three-day road trip. For Hampe and Siebold the opportunity to explore the region in detail, try out new activities and, in Siebold's case, even fulfill a childhood dream.
“My father bought and repaired old Porsches when he was young. That’s how my dream of owning one came about,” he explains. “I actually saved my whole youth to be able to buy a Porsche. But at 24, I realized that the dream would have to wait. I finally used the money to finance my studies abroad, where I discovered my fascination for travelling.”
Siebold grew up near the Kaiserstuhl near Freiburg and studied digital media in Germany before exploring Australia in his early twenties. The fascination of meeting new people and other cultures turned backpacking into something more. Siebold soon scrapped his plans for a master's degree in favor of traveling the world instead.
Hampe, whose parents are both from Thailand, grew up in Germany and studied art and design in Berlin. Like Siebold, she discovered her fascination with travel at an early age and ended up documenting her experiences for a rapidly growing number of followers on Instagram. What once started as a hobby is now a full-time job. With her meaningful and artistic shots, she brings the places to life in an emotional way.
connection between man and nature
"I try to capture the connection between humans and nature with my photos," explains Hampe. “Nature can be incredibly beautiful, but also unpredictable and sometimes destructive. Every place awakens different feelings in me. Since I've done a lot of illustration and painting, I often take a lot of artistic freedom with my photos. That's probably why I don't post regular vacation photos, even though I'm sometimes called a travel blogger."
Their journey together began at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, from where the convoy, equipped with roof tents, set off towards the Black Forest. "We all got to know each other better in a regional restaurant over delicious food and told how we all ended up here," reports Siebold. "For us, these stories are always very interesting."
Shortly thereafter, the group added new chapters to their story as they ziplined high above the forest floor and later set up camp in the remote surroundings of Lake Titisee. There they learned how to prepare tarte flambée before savoring the fruits of their labor around a crackling campfire.
During the night it began to rain, but this in no way dampened the spirits of the participants. “The weather wasn't in our favour,” admits Siebold, “but the tent was dry and we slept really well. And when we woke up surrounded by pine trees and dense fog, the view was incredible!”. "I prefer to spend my time in nature," says Hampe, "which is why I decided two years ago to move from Berlin to the countryside. I am always open to new and exciting adventures. The most important thing for me is to always keep moving and try to develop myself - personally and artistically."
Ride through the woods on eBikes
The following day, Hampe and Siebold braved the weather and rode through the woods on eBikes while other members of the group climbed the highest mountain in the region, the Feldberg, or paddled on the nearby Titisee in the early hours of the morning. Even the rain couldn't cloud the unforgettable Porsche drive through the most beautiful and spectacular landscapes in Germany.
“That was my first time behind the wheel of a 911,” says Siebold. “It was fantastic to feel the power and power with my own hands. I just enjoyed the ride. The comfort, the design, the whole look of the car made the experience so special. Added to that was the scenic landscape.”
For Siebold and Hampe, to whom people are just as important as the places they visit, another big plus of the Porsche Travel Experience was the warm community. "You get to know everyone and make friends," says Siebold. “That was what I particularly liked about the whole experience. Driving a fantastic car and meeting new people, sharing experiences and emotions was incomparable. We formed a real community.”
Of course, that wasn't the end of it!
