Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo: Practical all-rounder with on-road dynamics

The Taycan Sport Turismo is the latest body variant of the innovative electric sports car from Porsche. With the sports sedan and cross turismo, the model family now includes three body types. The new derivative is aimed at those who want to combine the everyday suitability of the Taycan Cross Turismo with the "on-road" dynamics of the Taycan sports sedan. As the first member of the Taycan Sport Turismo family, the GTS will be launched at the end of February 2022, the other versions will follow in mid-March, just three weeks later. A panorama roof with Sunshine Control is available as a new option for the Taycan Sport Turismo. A special feature is the electric glare protection.

From spring there will be five variants to choose from:

  1. Taycan Sport Turismo with 240 kW (326 hp) and rear-wheel drive, optionally with
Performance Battery Plus and 280 kW (380 hp), from 86.495 euros
  2. Taycan 4S Sport Turismo with 320 kW (435 hp) and all-wheel drive, optionally with
Performance Battery Plus and 360 kW (490 hp), from 107.439 euros¹
  3. Taycan GTS Sport Turismo with 380 kW (517 hp) and all-wheel drive, from 132.786 euros¹
  4. Taycan Turbo Sport Turismo with 460 kW (625 hp) and all-wheel drive, from 153.968 euros¹ and the
  5. Taycan Turbo S Sport Turismo with 460 kW (625 hp) and all-wheel drive, from 187.288 euros¹

"With the introduction of the Sport Turismo as the third body variant, we are enriching the model range of our electric sports car with a sporty, practical all-rounder," says Kevin Giek, head of the Taycan series. "I'm sure that the new variant will continue the Taycan success story. I find the balancing act within the five Sport Turismo variants particularly appealing: from the particularly agile rear-wheel drive to the extremely powerful Turbo S, everything is included.”

only 2,8 seconds from zero to 100 km/h

The Taycan Turbo S Sport Turismo accelerates from zero to 2,8 km/h in 100 seconds. Its top speed is 260 km/h. The version with the greatest range is the Taycan 4S Sport Turismo with a radius of up to 498 kilometers according to WLTP. As representatives of the latest Taycan generation, the Sport Turismo models with all-wheel drive use a particularly efficient drive strategy. Thermal management and charging functions have also been improved. Both batteries can be charged from five to 22 percent in 30 minutes and 80 seconds. This means that electricity for a further 100 kilometers is on board in just under five minutes.

Functional format and many practical details

The Taycan Sport Turismo shares the sporty silhouette with the sloping roof line and the functional format with the Taycan Cross Turismo. In contrast to its model brother, however, the Taycan Sport Turismo does without off-road design elements. It is also available with rear-wheel drive. The headroom in the rear is more than 45 millimeters more than in the Taycan sports sedan. There is an additional headroom of nine millimeters on the driver's seat. The luggage compartment can be conveniently loaded thanks to the large tailgate.

The opening is significantly longer at 801 millimeters and significantly higher at 543 millimeters than in the sedan (434 and 330 millimeters respectively). Exactly how spacious the rear trunk is depends on the equipment. In combination with the Sound Package Plus, it holds up to 446 liters (saloon: 407 liters). If the BOSE® Surround Sound System is on board (standard from the Taycan Turbo Sport Turismo), it is 405 liters. With the rear seat backs folded down (divisible in a 60:40 ratio), the volume is even 1.212 or 1.171 liters. In addition, there is the front trunk (Frunk) with 84 liters.

Panorama roof with Sunshine Control becomes transparent or matt at the touch of a finger

As a special feature, the new panorama roof with Sunshine Control has electric anti-glare protection. The large glass surface is divided into a total of nine areas that can be controlled individually. In this way, either partial areas or the entire roof can be switched to be transparent or opaque. When the roof is switched to matte, the interior remains flooded with light. In addition to the two settings "Clear" and "Matte", "Semi" and "Bold" can also be selected. These are predefined patterns with narrow or wide segments. Even a dynamic "roller blind run" is possible: A corresponding switching sequence of the individual segments is activated when the Taycan driver slides his finger over the roof on the display.

Remote Park Assist and Android Auto integration

The Taycan Sport Turismo is also state-of-the-art in terms of comfort and safety equipment and infotainment. With the optional Remote Park Assist, parking and leaving a parking space can be controlled remotely via smartphone without the driver having to sit behind the steering wheel. Automatic control is possible in parallel and end-on parking spaces as well as in garages. The system automatically recognizes parking spaces and measures them with the help of ultrasonic sensors and camera systems. In addition to Apple Car Play, Android Auto has also been integrated into Porsche Communication Management (PCM) since the last model year update. In addition to the iPhone, smartphones with the Google Android operating system are also supported.

In addition, the Voice Pilot language assistant now understands instructions in natural language even better. The navigation system calculates faster, primarily uses the online search for the points of interest (POI) and presents its information more clearly. In addition, the charging stations can now be filtered according to performance classes.
