The KTM 790 ADVENTURE is back: the versatile combination of torquey performance, smooth handling and maximum versatility - refreshed for 2023. With its blend of invigorating performance and perfect handling, the bike set a new standard in 2018. With this bike, KTM created a new niche, that of medium-duty touring motorcycles. With absolute confidence, riders could blast the KTM 790 ADVENTURE over tarmac and dirt, knowing they were ready for any condition or terrain. In 2022, the urge grew to refresh this ideal entry-level model for those hungry for adventure.
KTM 790 Adventure
The KTM 790 ADVENTURE 2023 has been revised and redesigned in Mattighofen, Austria. The motorcycle is manufactured by CFMOTO. This close and strong partner of KTM will build the bike to the highest standards in its world-class factories in China. This process is monitored by KTM employees on site. KTM already has experience with this type of intercontinental cooperation. In this way, a real spirit of adventure can penetrate even the farthest corners of the world.
The 2-cylinder LC8c engine of the first KTM 790 ADVENTURE became famous not only for its torque and response, but also for its inertial feel. For the bike's comeback, KTM wanted to improve the LC8c's "rideability" even further. The engine still delivers 95 hp at 8.000 rpm and 88 Nm at 6.500 rpm, but has been tuned to meet the Euro 5 emission limits.
The KTM 790 ADVENTURE 2023 is now more stable at constant speed and cornering better, thanks to a 20 percent increase in rotating mass without sacrificing the bike's excellent agility. The revised throttle bodies provide a cleaner and more efficient connection thanks to improved combustion. The knock sensor improves the ignition and combustion of low-octane fuel - immensely helpful when fuel quality fluctuates when travelling. The revised, optional Quickshifter+ enables faster gear changes. The end result can be heard through the very latest 2023 model year exhaust system with catalytic converter and pre-silencer. With this major change it is ensured that this lively new generation of the KTM 790 ADVENTURE will be the best choice for excursions both within and beyond the city limits. The service interval for the bike is 15.000 km.
revised PAS clutch
The revised PAS clutch with new clutch lining plates ensures even greater reliability of the KTM 790 ADVENTURE, and the engine can breathe more freely with the new air filter box. The bike also uses the latest 6D sensor, also known as the inertial measurement unit. This sensor is also found on the larger KTM models, such as the KTM 890 ADVENTURE and the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE. This nifty device sends data to the motorcycle's traction control, ABS, engine drag torque control and riding mode controls.
In terms of features, the KTM 790 ADVENTURE has a lot in common with its big sister, the KTM 890 ADVENTURE. The ABS program is now switched automatically depending on the driving mode. So no additional configuration is required. KTM has installed an innovative DEMO function on the KTM 790 ADVENTURE 2023. This allows owners to extensively test the entire range of optional driver assistance functions over the first 1.500 km. Only then do buyers have to decide which features they want to buy and keep.
The WP APEX Suspension 43 mm spring fork 2023, like the shock absorber (with adjustable preload), offers 200 mm spring travel - so an almost perfect feeling is guaranteed. The clever design of the CroMo frame uses the engine as a supporting element. This not only ensures plenty of robustness and rigidity to carry luggage and a passenger: the shock absorber can also be optimally positioned in order to lower the seat height to 840 mm. The 20 liter tank and the range of up to 450 km expand the horizon for even more adventures. Given the amount of time that can be spent on the comfortable two-piece seat (which can be easily swapped out or upgraded with the KTM PowerParts range of one-piece or heated seats), KTM has made the 790 KTM 2023 ADVENTURE even more travel-ready.
The tank hugs the lines of the bike, a new headlight mask flows seamlessly into the integrated fairing and a complete set of LEDs has been installed for lighting. The front section continues to offer excellent contact and a centralized feel. In addition, it is now also reinforced and more robust in order to be able to accommodate suspensions and other GPS devices as required. The new larger and higher windshield offers better wind protection. The instrument cluster is now brighter and easier to use: the 5-inch TFT display adapts to the ambient light, and the revised menu system with new infographics allows for quick and easy adjustment. Syncing the bike with the KTMConnect app now offers even more helpful navigation and travel functions. This allows you to organize your "top ten" calls and contacts and adjust the parameters of the turn-by-turn navigation on the go.
As with the previous model, the KTM PowerParts product range includes plenty of accessories for the KTM 790 ADVENTURE 2023. However, additional protection of the front end from bumps and bumps is not absolutely necessary - an engine guard made of lightweight aluminum has been fitted as standard. Also, the plastic parts (with durable injection molded graphics) have been remolded. They now protect the tank and the seat from unwanted impacts.
