Now the heated tempers have calmed down again and many BMW fans are coming to terms with the controversial design of the current G8x series. Predominantly the polarizing front caused heated discussions immediately after the presentation in 2020, because with its extremely unusual grill design, the current G8x series almost catapulted itself out of existence among the brand's fans shortly after its debut. Thank God it didn't get that far, because the driving dynamics and sound technology are good M3 / M4 models Driving machines of the purest water, and therefore meet the high demands of the clientele. But let's come to the Carbonwurks BMW M4!
Carbonwurks BMW M4
The British tuning company has just presented this with a comprehensive carbon package. Company boss Daniel McKenzie used a BMW M4 (G82), which was bought as a demonstration car with 1.500 miles on the clock and already had a few stone chips. The tuner's plan was to take this M4 to a new level and create a very special piece of jewelry. The M4 from Carbonwurks received a complete overhaul with carbon components. These include various flaps, side skirts, a ducktail spoiler, a rear diffuser, front air inlets and carbon fiber exterior mirrors. The engine cover was also made from the lightweight material.
Rims painted in copper gold
The carbon package was designed and completed within three months of purchasing the M4 Coupe, and various body panels were replaced with custom carbon fiber parts. To create a special contrast, the standard 19-inch rims, which have the factory code 825M, were painted in copper gold. Lowering springs from AST Performance ensure an even sportier appearance without the M4 thereby losing driving dynamics. Last but not least, the exterior was wrapped, and Carbonwurks chose a matt gray that is strongly reminiscent of the standard color Frozen Gray from the BMW color palette.
The interior has been partially upgraded!
In Bournemouth, England, the headquarters of Carbonwurks, they decided to upgrade the cockpit to Alcantara. As a result, among other things, an armrest and seat bolsters made of Alcantara were installed. Last but not least, the interior also got a little more carbon, as Daniel McKenzie's crew decided to install door panels made of carbon fiber.
Hardly any performance upgrades necessary!
The 3-liter R6 biturbo gasoline engine, which delivers 431 hp and 550 Newton meters of maximum torque as standard, did not receive an ECU remapping, just a modified intake from MST Performance. The car also received a downpipe sports exhaust system and the gasoline particulate filter was removed. These measures may have made the already extreme soundscape of the M4 Coupé even more infernal and brutal. The vehicle has a sporty eight-speed automatic transmission and power is only transmitted to the rear wheels.
Our Conclusion
- The exterior and interior appear elegant and sporty, because Carbonwurks went to great lengths to create an exclusive vehicle. The only thing that might not be for everyone is the soundscape that can wake up an entire settlement. We still give it a thumbs up.
