Bugatti delivers the first Chiron Super Sport 300+!

The first production vehicle to venture into a new dimension: the Chiron Super Sport 300+ caused a sensation with a sensational record drive. After completing the extensive two-year test and development program, the first eight of only 30 exclusive vehicles are now ready for delivery. When the Chiron Super Sport 300+ hit the headlines for the first time in 2019, Bugatti set a completely new standard of performance by breaking what was considered an insurmountable limit of 300 miles per hour (approx. 483 km / h). Breaking this mark with a speed of 304,773 mph (490,484 km / h) represents a new world record. Shortly afterwards, on the occasion of the French luxury brand's 110th birthday, Bugatti announced that 30 of the Chiron Super Sport 300+ had been built in the Molsheim studio would be.

The power of success

Speeds of up to 440 km / h are completely new territory for automobile manufacturers and require a lot of strength. With a whopping 1.600 horsepower output generated by a modified version of Bugatti's iconic 8,0 liter W16 engine, the Chiron Super Sport 300+ outperforms the Chiron2 by 100 horsepower. In order to increase the performance even further, the Bugatti engineers developed a new thermal management system for the engine and transmission of the hyper sports car to ensure that overheating does not occur even at top speed. Software adjustments were required for the engine, transmission, drive and turbocharger so that these components can contribute their part to the overall performance of the Chiron Super Sport 300+, which has been trimmed for high speed.

Mastery of the air

Visually and technically, the Chiron Super Sport 300+ differs significantly from the Chiron: Thanks to its aerodynamically optimized body designed for top speed, it offers balanced driving behavior even at over 420 km / h. Most noticeable is the longtail at the rear of the vehicle, which extends the body by 25 centimeters and ensures that the laminar flow remains on the car for longer. In this way, a significant reduction in aerodynamic stall of more than 40 percent is achieved. Air curtains adorn the front of the hyper sports car on both sides in order to direct the air to the rear and to apply it to the side of the vehicle. In addition, the air outlets on the wheel arches and behind the front wheels reduce the air turbulence on the wheel arches, so that a slight downforce is generated towards the front and the drag is reduced.

The streamlined body of the Chiron Super Sport 300+ is made of deep black carbon, with racing stripes in jet orange in the center. The engine cover and windshield wipers are also made from black carbon fiber. Subtle nuances, such as the Bugatti “Macaron” logo made of real silver and black enamel, increase exclusivity and rarity. The extremely light magnesium wheels are painted in an individual color called "Nocturne". The sold out Chiron Super Sport 30+, limited to just 300 vehicles, is currently being built at the brand's headquarters in Molsheim, France, and costs from 3,5 million euros net.
