2023 Bentley Bentayga introduced as "Odyssean Edition"!

Bentley unveils the Bentayga Odyssean Edition, continuing the tradition of outstanding sustainable design without sacrificing the famous Bentley character or the company's renowned craftsmanship. This new, limited edition is entirely geared towards sustainability and will be produced for 12 months. The first Odyssean Edition was introduced in 2021 for the Flying Spur model line. The design was inspired by the EXP 100 GT concept car and embodied Bentley's vision of luxurious mobility in 2035, developed as part of the Beyond100 strategy. Similar to the Flying Spur Odyssean, the new Bentayga Limited Edition also has a hybrid drive.

In combination, the V6 petrol engine, the electric motor and the new, optimized 18 kWh battery of the Bentayga Hybrid develop an impressive range of performance, from the almost silent gliding along in the emission-free electric drive to the agile howling of the engine at maximum acceleration. The electric range has been extended to at least 45 km in the WLTP driving cycle. With a combined output of 462 hp, the 3,0 liter TFSI V6 petrol engine and 100 kW electric motor accelerate the Bentayga Hybrid from 5,3 to 0 km/h in just 100 seconds, with a top speed of 254 km/h. H. The impression of effortless power delivery is further reinforced by the hybrid drive train, as the electric motor achieves its full torque from zero revolutions per minute.

Bentley's hybrid portfolio now includes seven out of a total of 14 models - 50 percent of the entire Bentley model range is now electrified. And attention was not only paid to sustainability with the drive, but also with the materials used in the interior. For the open-pored Koa veneer on the center console, 90 percent less paint is used than for high-gloss veneers. The natural wood texture also ensures a very pleasant, aesthetic and haptic experience. The open pore veneer is selected from the finest and most heavily grained materials and lacquered in three wafer-thin layers, a total of just 0,1mm thick.

The instrument panels and door moldings are finished in elegant, minimalist Piano Linen veneer. The three-tone leather upholstery gives the interior additional depth. In addition to new materials, particularly durable and at the same time sustainable natural leather was used for the interior. The interior panels are also crafted from beautifully crafted 100% British cotton tweed - coordinated yarn tones have been spun together to create a unique and luxurious natural textile made especially for Bentley.

Soft, warm color accents were integrated in the form of the Autumn leather type. Customers can choose from five different versions in which the leather tones Beluga, Porpoise, Cricketball, Brunel or Burnt Oak are combined with a light, modern leather tone. The result is a unique combination of three colors - a first for the second generation Bentayga. The Odyssean Edition's special door sill panel catches the eye as you get in and out, and is complemented by exterior badges on the D-pillar.

Like the ombré surfaces in the Flying Spur Odyssean, exclusive, different colored topstitching is harmoniously integrated across the entire width of the seat covers. The exterior styling includes Pale Brodgar accents on the 22-inch ten-spoke wheels and lower trim (front and rear bumpers, headlight/taillight bezels and chrome side molding), adding an additional commanding character to the vehicle. A specially coordinated six-tone color palette harmonises perfectly with the Pale Brodgar accents – but alternatively all 60 colors in the Bentley palette can be selected.

Well-being and comfort as standard equipment

As with Bentley's Azure models, the Odyssean Edition pays the utmost attention to passenger well-being and comfort, making every journey a relaxing experience - no matter how long it takes. Outside of city traffic, the powerful 3,0 liter V6 petrol and electric motor combination delivers a smooth and luxurious driving experience. The Bentayga Odyssean Edition ensures the high level of passenger well-being through a combination of perfect design, modern technology and exquisite craftsmanship. Thanks to the Front Seat Comfort Specification for the front seats, the seats can be adjusted to up to 22 different positions and are heated and ventilated to always maintain the optimal body temperature for maximum comfort and undivided attention.

The safe, quiet driving experience and the relaxed sovereignty are further enhanced by driver assistance systems of the Touring Specification. Adaptive cruise control* maintains a set distance from the vehicle in front and automatically reduces speed (to a standstill if necessary) if the vehicle in front slows down. As soon as the lane is free, the vehicle accelerates again. Together with Lane Keeping Assist*, Traffic Assist* and Bentley Emergency Brake Assist, the vehicle's radar and camera systems constantly monitor the surrounding traffic and the road.

Technological efficiency

The Bentayga Hybrid has a dedicated button to control the three E driving modes - EV Drive, Hybrid and Hold. In this way, the driver can manually regulate the use of the battery while driving – or leave this to the automatic control of the vehicle. The EV driving mode (purely electric driving mode) is available as soon as you switch it on and ensures the greatest possible all-electric driving experience. Just right for city traffic and for shorter journeys. The Bentley Hybrid's accelerator pedal provides driver feedback through a pressure point that marks the boundary between pure electric and hybrid driving. Based on predictive data from the Bentley Hybrid Efficiency Navigation Database, the pedal vibrates as the driver approaches an intersection or speed limit area, alerting the driver to take their foot off the accelerator pedal.

This saves energy while providing the greatest opportunity for energy recovery. The driver gets haptic feedback from the gas pedal when the electric motor switches off and the combustion engine switches on. This encourages the driver to remain in purely electric driving mode for as long as possible and helps to achieve maximum efficiency. In purely electric driving mode, the electric motor works at speeds of up to 135 km/h. Hybrid mode uses data from the intelligent navigation system to maximize the vehicle's efficiency and range. This mode is suitable for longer journeys. It uses the anticipatory E-mode and coasting mode, following the instructions from the navigation system. When entering a destination, the vehicle automatically selects the correct driving mode for each leg of the journey.

It constantly calculates the most efficient use of the battery charge and stores electrical energy for the sections of the journey where it is most useful - such as when you reach the city. The system fully utilizes the stored energy by the time it arrives at its destination, maximizing overall efficiency. Hold mode balances the power between the combustion engine and electrical energy in order to keep the high-voltage battery charged for later use. This is the default setting in Sport driving mode to enable consistently high performance and energy recovery. The Bentley Hybrid Efficiency braking function ensures seamless integration of the braking performance of the electric motor and conventional hydraulic braking system. Comfort and driving feel when braking are completely normal, while at the same time energy recovery is maximized.

The future belongs to e-mobility

The Bentayga Odyssean Edition offers the ultimate experience in the world of electric luxury. Smoothly and silently, you'll travel through the cityscape, and if necessary, you can escape the city and conquer the countryside thanks to the capabilities of a Grand Touring. All Bentley models will be available with hybrid powertrains by 2025, coinciding with the launch of Bentley's first fully battery electric vehicle. Sales of the Bentayga Odyssean Edition will begin in November, ahead of the start of production in the first quarter of 2023.
