Bentley is taking the next step towards a sustainable future with the introduction of the new Bentayga Hybrid: the world's only true luxury SUV with electric drive and a model that Bentley predicts will become the best-selling variant of the new Bentayga family. After the recent introduction of the new Bentayga V8 and the new Bentayga Speed, the new Bentayga Hybrid is now the third model in the most successful luxury SUV product range that has ever existed in this segment. The new exterior and interior design emphasizes the Bentley design language across the entire model range. Bentley has the freshest and most modern product family of any luxury vehicle manufacturer.

The new Bentayga Hybrid offers the ultimate experience in the world of electric luxury. It goes smoothly and silently through the urban landscape, and if necessary, thanks to the skills of a grand touring, you can escape the city and conquer the surrounding area. Bentayga Hybrid customers can escape the noise of the city in the serenity of the cultivated, soundproofed interior without being disturbed by the combustion engine. Up to 31 miles in all-electric driving (NEDC) can be used before you leave the city behind and have a comfortable 536 miles (NEDC) total range at your disposal. The Bentayga Hybrid delivers the same level of comfort and luxury, but is even quieter and more refined in its handling. He brings a selection of new technologies and services for networked automobiles, making the vehicle the most technically advanced Bentayga currently available.
Compared to the previous generation, the new Bentayga has been significantly redesigned both inside and out and scores with the latest technology on board and an even more comfortable interior. Subtle emblems on the outside of the vehicle complement the exterior design of the new Bentayga, which now runs through the entire model range. Bentley has the freshest and most modern product family of any luxury vehicle manufacturer. Research from Bentley shows that more than 90% of customers use their first-generation Bentayga Hybrid daily or at least several times a week, and nearly 100% of customers use all-electric driving, with half of them consistently driving less than 30 miles undertakes. Hybrid powertrain drives further technical advances
The electric drive train of the Bentayga Hybrid consists of 12 main components in three core areas. First the power distribution: the charging point is on the left of the vehicle, opposite the fuel filler neck, and is designed according to the region of the vehicle. An LED shows the charge status of the battery. The battery can be charged at 7,2 kW / h. The lithium battery with a capacity of 17,3 kWh consists of 168 individual cells with an expected service life of 100.000 miles or eight years and can even be charged up to 100% within just two and a half hours (depending on the region). The power electronics convert the energy stored in the high-voltage battery and thus supply the electric motor or supplement the existing 12V infrastructure of the vehicle. The conversion of the stored energy into gentle, effortless power is done by the electric motor with 94 kW (126 bhp) output, which can provide up to 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque. The electric motor is located in the power transmission between the gearbox and the combustion engine and immediately provides full torque from a standstill so that the vehicle can accelerate silently and quickly.
A 3,0 l twin-turbo V6 engine complements the electric motor when additional torque is required or speeds over 84 mph are desired. Since the vehicle moves almost silently, a special loudspeaker generates a sound outside at low speeds to warn pedestrians. The Bentayga Hybrid not only has different driving modes, but can also use the information stored in the Bentley Hybrid Efficiency navigation system in order to achieve the best efficiency via feedback via the accelerator pedal. The Bentley Hybrid Efficiency accelerator pedal has a pressure point in electric mode to mark the boundary between purely electric and hybrid driving. This function encourages the driver to remain in purely electric driving mode for as long as possible, but can also be switched off if necessary.
The Bentley Hybrid Efficiency brake function ensures seamless integration of the braking power of the electric motor and conventional hydraulic braking system. Comfort and driving feel when braking are quite normal, while energy recovery is maximized at the same time. A special button enables the control of the three e-driving modes - EV-Drive, Hybrid-Mode and Hold-Mode. The driver can regulate the battery usage manually while driving - or leave this to the automatic control of the vehicle.
The EV driving mode (purely electric driving mode) is immediately available when switched on and ensures the greatest possible purely electric driving experience. Just the thing for city traffic and for shorter journeys. The Bentley Hybrid's accelerator pedal provides feedback to the driver through a pressure point that marks the boundary between purely electric and hybrid driving. Based on predictive data from the Bentley Hybrid Efficiency Navigation database, the pedal vibrates when the driver approaches an intersection or a speed limit area, advising the driver to take their foot off the accelerator. This saves energy and at the same time offers the greatest opportunity for energy recovery. The driver receives haptic feedback from the accelerator pedal when the electric motor switches off and the combustion engine switches on. This encourages the driver to stay in purely electric driving mode for as long as possible and ensures maximum efficiency. In purely electric driving mode, the electric motor works up to a speed of 84 mph.
Hybrid mode uses data from the intelligent navigation system to maximize the efficiency and range of the vehicle. This mode is suitable for longer journeys. He uses the predictive E-mode and the overrun mode and follows the instructions from the navigation system. When you enter a destination, the vehicle automatically selects the correct driving mode for each individual section of the journey. It constantly calculates the most efficient use of the battery charge and stores electrical energy for sections of the journey where it is most useful - for example, when you reach the city. The system uses up all of the stored energy by the time it arrives at its destination, thus maximizing overall efficiency.
Hold mode balances the power between the combustion engine and electrical energy in order to keep the high-voltage battery charged for later use. This is the standard setting in the Sport driving mode to enable consistently high performance and energy recovery. The new Bentayga Hybrid is delivered with all the cables required for the respective region. The vehicle can easily be charged at home or at power charging points at work or in public parking lots. In addition to the standard equipment, customers can also order a free wallbox with the Bentley brand logo, in which the charging unit is housed and the charging cables can be neatly stowed away.
The latest version of My Bentley's in-vehicle and remote services for connected automobiles is available through the new Bentayga Hybrid. On-board vehicle functions are now provided via an embedded SIM card (eSIM), so that a data connection via a customer's mobile device is no longer required. Remote services are available through the My Bentley app based on availability in each region and are constantly being improved, including technology levels and functionality.
The following four features can be found in the comfort functions of the new Bentayga Hybrid:
"MY CAR" STATISTICS - provides an overview of the vehicle data. Here you can see the date and time of the last journeys as well as the distance traveled, average speed and duration of the journey and the average consumption of fuel and electrical energy during the last journey.
MY BATTERY CHARGE - If your vehicle is connected to a charging point, you can use this to initiate the charging process remotely. You can preselect the time at which you want to leave and the system then calculates the charging current that ensures the highest state of charge when you leave.
MY CABIN COMFORT - This allows you to remotely preheat / cool the interior of the vehicle to an optimal temperature of 22 ° C for your journey.
E-CHARGE - determines the nearest charging point in the area or at a destination of your choice so that you can navigate to the most conveniently accessible charging point. The results can be filtered according to distance, charging space availability and charging speed.
Studies by Bentley confirm the high efficiency of the Bentayga Hybrid
As part of Bentley's move towards electrification and as part of the recently announced Beyond100 strategy (where we will only offer plug-in hybrids or battery-powered electric vehicles by 2026), research has been done to understand how customers are using the Bentayga Hybrid in the Use individual. The all-new digital display offers high-resolution, dynamic graphics that can be adapted to the driver's preferences.
The latest hardware and software enable a completely revised navigation with satellite maps, online search and other functions. In addition to the existing connection via USB cable, Apple CarPlay can now also be used wirelessly as standard for the first time. Android Auto is also available (depending on the region). The passengers in the rear can look forward to the introduction of a new, larger tablet that functions as a touchscreen remote control, similar to the brand new Flying Spur. The connectivity around the vehicle has been significantly improved: USB-C data connections and a wireless charger for mobile phones are now standard equipment. Like the latest Continental GT models, the new Bentayga product range now has an embedded SIM card (eSIM) so that customers no longer need their own data connection to use the My Bentley services for connected cars. On-board and remote services from “My Bentley” are a service that we are constantly developing and that customers can access via a specially designed app for Apple iOS and Android.
For the first time in a Bentley, the luxurious interior can be enhanced even further with a dark-tinted diamond brushed aluminum surface. In addition, two new veneers with longitudinal grain are available for the Bentayga: Koa and Crown Cut Walnut. The Mulliner Driving Specification has been supplemented by a new design for the quilting, and now the seats can also be provided with micro piping if required.
The Bentayga adopts Bentley's new design language
The exterior design of the new Bentayga model series has been completely renewed compared to the previous generation. That makes the vehicle even more stylish and its appearance even stronger. Every area at the front and rear of the vehicle has been modified to give it a cleaner, more modern look. JP Gregory, Head of Exterior Design at Bentley Motors, comments:
"We invested a lot of time figuring out how to optimize the proportions and character of the vehicle. The new Bentayga is still instantly recognizable as a Bentley, but now has a much larger presence on the road. Its SUV look is even more confident, from every angle. A more protruding radiator grille and higher mounted, more targeted elliptical headlights give the vehicle a more modern look."
The larger, more vertical front grille allows the elegant bonnet of the Bentayga to flow right down to the edge of the chrome elements. This gives the vehicle a more dominant, upright profile. The new, elliptical LED matrix headlights are now further apart and have also been moved up 30 mm, all for a more powerful aesthetic. The new headlights also feature the brand's signature crystal glass design that makes them appear to sparkle even when they are not switched on. The most dramatic changes to the design are reserved for the rear of the vehicle, where the new Bentayga range is radically different from the previous model. Like the Continental GT, the new Bentayga has elliptical rear lights for the first time.
The lights are embedded in a brand new designed tailgate that takes up the entire width of the rear. This creates a clearer, more modern look. The license plate was moved down into the bumper, which leaves space above for a more generous Bentley lettering. The dynamic new look is further emphasized by various customization options such as the contemporary urban Blackline Specification, in which all chrome-plated bodywork trim elements are replaced by black variants.
Craftsmanship in a new design
The exquisite handcrafted interior of the Bentayga has been completely redesigned for the new model. In the Bentayga Hybrid, which is already widely recognized as the benchmark for the interior of luxury SUVs, there is now a modern combination of luxurious materials and exquisite, elaborate workmanship that you will not find anywhere else. Bentley designers have created an even more relaxing environment for occupants wherever they travel. The big changes to the more contemporary interior of the Bentayga include new door panels and a new steering wheel as well as a redesigned center dashboard and a digital instrument cluster. These innovations are rounded off by the new seats, which further improve the industry-wide standard for seating comfort.
Two versatile seating configurations are available in the new Bentayga Hybrid. The standard version with five seats has completely new seat frames, which double the adjustment range of the rear seat backrests. The equipment option with four seats has two individual seats at the rear, which are separated by a center console. The ergonomics of the four-seat version have been further improved. There is now 30 mm more knee room when sitting upright and almost 100 mm more room when the backrests are recessed. This makes luxury travel even more comfortable. A new quilting design has been developed for vehicles with the Mulliner Driving Specification. In addition, customers can choose between eight veneers sourced from sustainable forestry, including two types with longitudinal grain for the first time for the Bentayga: Koa and Crown Cut Walnut.
Information at your fingertips
The new Bentayga series now has a fully digital information and warning light field, similar to the Continental GT and the new Flying Spur. The display gives the cockpit a contemporary look, can be adapted to the needs of the driver and is characterized by elegantly animated real-time lighting effects. The standard tachometer of the Bentayga has been replaced in the hybrid version by a display that shows the engine speed when the combustion engine is running or informs you when the vehicle is operated purely electrically. The coolant temperature gauge has been replaced with an instrument that shows the battery status. In the new Bentayga, a state-of-the-art infotainment system is used for the first time, which sets new standards in the area of user interfaces. The larger and brighter high-resolution 10,9-inch touchscreen screen is anti-reflective and has a low-reflection coating and has greatly improved touch functions.
It now takes up the entire width of the central dashboard, giving it a more contemporary look. The energy flow in each of the three E-modes can be read on the infotainment screen: It shows whether the vehicle is powered by energy from the battery or the combustion engine and whether energy is fed back into the battery for charging. The Bentley Hybrid Efficiency Navigation System allows context-specific free-text searches, including addresses or points of interest. In addition to other useful functions, the navigation has been expanded to include a three-dimensional building display, satellite maps and content in the next-generation head-up display. Traffic reports, street names and the distance to the destination can now also be shown in the head-up display.
In addition to the usual media sources, Apple CarPlay is now also available wirelessly as standard in the new Bentayga series (in addition to the previous wired system). For the first time, Android Auto can also be used in a Bentley. If a corresponding smartphone is connected to one of the vehicle's USB-C ports, the central infotainment screen shows the phone display.
