Oldtimer look without vintage car attitudes? This works out! At least if you decide for an ETA 02. An ETA 02? I agree! Specifically, it is a converted 1er convertible (E88) of the E87 model generation from BMW. It does not matter whether you bring a small 143 PS strong 118i or equal to the 135i top model with 306 PS and 3,0-liter Reihensechser has decided. Even the then available diesel engines 118d, 120d or 123d can be used for the conversion. Everytime Automobile (ETA) converts every 1er Cabrio on request to the ETA 02. The E88 receives a completely new body made of composite materials in cooperation with the lightweight specialists of Vela performance be made.

They allow the elaborate transformation based on the legendary model 2002, as it was then called 2002 Baur Cabriolet with good 40% surcharge could be bought. Compared to the former copy, it is now a real convertible and no Targa blend as then. Characteristic highlights of the body are the round xenon headlights in front including the narrow double kidney in the classic grille. A highlight of the front are the small turn signals that actually come from the original 2002. It goes on with an attached bonnet and even the front apron is modeled after the original.

Both vehicles are an absolute dream

The side part looks a bit more powerful but still fitting and only the rear had to accept a few concessions. The background is that, of course, the top must be packed somewhere and so it was not possible here to leave the boot lid as the original. But now the sill is much more back friendly and also the laborious manual work when closing the roof can be dispensed with. The result is in any case a really successful basic form whose proportions are right consistent. Another really important aspect is the fact that the technology of the 1er BMW is maintained and every BMW specialist can properly service this vehicle.

the interior is typical BMW 1er

It is state-of-the-art in terms of performance, provides all driving comfort and is also problem-free in terms of safety. The conversion does not interfere with the E88 in terms of structure or approval and the complex data bus system remains untouched. Finally, even the TÜV has its hands in the game because it was ensured that in terms of passive safety pedestrian protection is maintained despite the completely changed front. By the way, we especially like the metallic green copy. There was no chrome here but a lot of accents in carbon and black and in this 02 also the large recess at the rear is much less noticeable. Rarely have we seen such a successful and beautiful complete conversion!

thought-out down to the smallest detail

Sounds a little like that egg-laying wool milk sow! If it was not the price. Although this is not exactly known, but it means that about 70.000 € alone in the cost of the conversion flow. The base vehicle NOT included. There is alternatively a new 1er BMW and a well-preserved 2002er copy. If we receive timely information on further details or the specific conversion price there is of course as always an update for this report. It is best to subscribe to our feed and if there is something new you will get in touch immediately. We wish you a lot of fun watching the pictures.
