Taiwanese machine builder Yulon Machinery Co. Ltd. was founded in 1953 by the entrepreneur Ching-Ling-Yen. The production of automobiles began in 1956, and the company began working a year later Nissan together. This connection continues to this day, and this also resulted in the collaboration with Renault, which goes so far that the models from Yulon subsidiary Luxgen are powered by Renault engines. This premium division of Yulon, whose brand name is made up of the words "Luxury" and "Genius", or in German, "Luxus" and "Genialität", was founded in 2011 and celebrated at the Shanghai Auto Show in the same year their premiere. For the Chinese market, the models are also manufactured by Dongfeng-Yulon, a joint venture between Luxgen's mother Yulon and the Chinese auto giant Dongfeng, which works with both Renault-Nissan and PSA. So it also happens that the entry-level models from Luxgen over older, turbocharged Peugeot Engines, while the larger Luxgen models are equipped with Renault-Nissan turbo engines. Currently (as of 05.2020) Luxgen is represented on the Chinese and Taiwanese market with the models S3, S5, U5, U6, U7, M7 and URX. However, further models are being planned.
