Other bodybuilders like Hartmann/ Alsfeld and UNICAT offer exclusive all-wheel-drive motorhomes based on Zetros. The Mercedes-Benz Zetros is the ideal basis for extreme motorhomes and expedition vehicles. The current series of this vehicle concept, developed for durability and ease of use, is geared towards the requirements in regions with limited infrastructure and the use of poorer fuel quality. That is why it finds its main sales markets in regions such as the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. Zetros as an expedition vehicle

The robust off-road specialist is made for driving in difficult and inaccessible terrain. The all-terrain vehicle is designed for tough use in markets with a high proportion of off-road vehicles. In order to be able to use these advantages in an even more versatile way, in future all Zetros will be powered by a particularly powerful and robust inline six-cylinder engine with a displacement of 12,8 liters in emission levels Euro III and V. The new generation Zetros is available with a wide range. In addition to the familiar 4 × 4 and 6 × 6 versions with permanent all-wheel drive, the range has been expanded to include versions with the 4 × 2 and 6 × 4 drive formulas. In addition, the offer is supplemented by the option of a fully automatic converter. The latest generation of the Zetros can now be equipped with either single or twin tires.

The increasing requirements for total weights and performance have been met with a completely revised drive train. Powerful engines with 310 kW (421 PS) or 350 kW (476 PS) in Euro III or with 330 kW (449 PS) and 375 kW (510 PS), here with a full torque of 2400 Nm. Optional permanent all-wheel drive and planetary axles with differential locks, together with the high ground clearance, guarantee exceptional mobility and durability. With the two-axle vehicles, the performance range is rounded off downwards with a Euro III version with 265 kW (360 PS). The exterior of the current Zetros can be recognized by the strikingly designed radiator grille, which enables effective cooling thanks to optimized air flow.

It has numerous detail improvements, such as easier entry or a redesigned dashboard. The latest Zetros offers the special concept-related advantages of a hood truck when driving on poor roads and slopes, paired with pronounced robustness and off-road mobility. The significantly reduced vibration and shock load on the vehicle crew on poor roads enables greater comfort, especially on long journeys. The Mercedes-Benz Zetros is therefore the ideal basis for sophisticated mobile homes and as an extreme expedition vehicle. The Zetros can be used in all extreme climatic regions worldwide - from hot desert regions to the Arctic. Photo credit: Mercedes-Benz
