Mercedes-AMG GT3 as a strictly limited EDITION 55 special model!

On the occasion of its 55th birthday, AMG is launching a highly exclusive racing vehicle, the Mercedes-AMG GT3 EDITION 55. Only five examples of the special model are being built by hand by the racing car manufacturer in Affalterbach. In addition to its limitation, the GT3 shines with unique technical attributes and many specific equipment details that make it a coveted collector's item - from the striking edition design to high-quality visible carbon elements to the optimized engine performance. The special model also includes an EDITION 55 – 1 OF 5 box containing an exclusive IWC watch with an engraved chassis number.

"Motorsport is what drives us." The words of AMG founder Hans Werner Aufrecht have been a leitmotif for the performance and sports car brand from Affalterbach for 55 years. The racetrack successes of the past five decades are correspondingly numerous and legendary - from the sensational class victory of the Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.8 AMG at the 24 Hours of Spa in 1971 to the historic double victory of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 at this year's edition of the same race. As a tribute to its rich motorsport heritage, Mercedes-AMG is now releasing its current GT3 Customer Racing vehicle in a strictly limited EDITION 55.

The quantity of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 EDITION 55 is fixed at five. In order to guarantee and document the small edition, a separate number range ("GT3.190-55") was created for the chassis numbers of the five copies. In addition, the special model offers numerous unique selling points compared to the basic vehicle. Among other things, the EDITION 55 is not FIA homologated and can therefore come up with more engine power: the optimized AMG 6,3-liter V8 engine generates 650 hp - around 100 hp more than in the FIA ​​version. Appropriately, the performance exhaust system made of Inconel does without a silencer and thus creates an even more distinctive soundscape.

Maximum exclusivity also prevails in the coloring and design of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 EDITION 55: Its special paint finish in MANUFAKTUR alpine gray with red accents perfectly complements the matt finish of the aerodynamic components made of visible carbon (front diffuser, rear diffuser, rear wing including end plates, flicks, louvre , radiator grille, side skirts). The coat of arms of Affalterbach is painted on the doors of the special model with slick tires. The AMG logo and the 55th anniversary logo are emblazoned on the rear wing.

In the functional racing cockpit, the Mercedes-AMG GT3 EDITION 55 comes up with exclusive details. The embroidery on the seat shows the anniversary signet and there is a plaque with the lettering “EDITION 55 – 1 OF 5” on the center console and on the carbon seat shell. The interior is characterized by the matt anthracite metallic, in which the high-quality visible carbon elements blend harmoniously - from the door sills to the door panels and the center console to the instrument panel. Another visual feature in the interior are the silver-accented belts.

As a technical highlight, a data display unit (DDU) of the latest generation is used in the cockpit of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 EDITION 55. The Bosch DDU 11 has a high-resolution graphic display for displaying relevant information such as speed, engine speed, operating temperatures, lap times, gear and upshift indicators and other additional information. The starting process of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 EDITION 55 is particularly eye-catching, with the 55th anniversary logo appearing on the display.

In addition to the numerous optional extras, a tailor-made and specially designed car cover is also included in the scope of delivery of the exclusive AMG GT3. Another highlight comes from Mercedes-AMG cooperation partner IWC Schaffhausen: exclusively for the launch of the vehicle, the Swiss watch manufacturer has created a limited EDITION 55 box containing a Pilot's Watch Chronograph Edition "AMG" (reference IW377903). The chassis number of the relevant Mercedes-AMG GT5 EDITION 3 is engraved on the back of the Grade 55 titanium watch case. A black textile strap is also included in the box. The handover of the high-quality timepiece takes place in an IWC boutique near the buyer's home.

With the Mercedes-AMG GT3 EDITION 55, Mercedes-AMG is expanding its range of special models to mark the 55th anniversary of the brand. In addition to the GT3, there are other edition vehicles based on various production models from Mercedes-AMG. The sales price of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 EDITION 55 is EUR 625.000 (excl. VAT).
