This beautiful Mercedes-Benz 560 SL we absolutely have to show you. The unique piece is completely restored and built in 1989. The team from is responsible for the project Bespoke Upholstery and Restoration from Costa Mesa in California, who have specialized in the authentic and tasteful restoration and maintenance of classic Mercedes-Benz vehicles. The company has the 650th SL equipped with numerous improvements in terms of technology and also made subtle changes to the appearance. The SL was built in July 1988 and was delivered in Smoke Silver Metallic. The factory included a beige leather interior and a dark brown fabric top.
Mercedes 560 SL Restomod
In the interior, a Becker Grand Prix AM/FM stereo radio with cassette deck and electric antenna was ordered, there was an alarm system, a folding center armrest, heat-insulating windows all around, automatic climate control and electrically adjustable rear seals with heating function.
The 560 SL was delivered new to Bridgehampton (New York) and bought by the current owner in 2015. According to reports, the odometer showed less than 55.000 km at the time of purchase. So the SL with R107 chassis turned out to be the perfect candidate for a complete restoration. Bespoke Restoration work started in 2016 and lasted more than 2 years. The 560th SL was completely disassembled and the chassis gutted down to the bare metal. The parts were either replaced, restored or replaced with newer ones as needed. A new engine and improved chassis components were even installed, in combination with a six-speed manual gearbox.
The tuner also installed a custom rear differential with a 3,27:1 ratio and a Sports exhaust system made of stainless steel with special "TriY" elbows is also installed. The chassis consists of a combination of Koni Classic struts and H&R springs and with regard to the braking system, a 6 piston system at the front in conjunction with correspondingly large brake discs. Visually, however, you can only see a difference at second glance. The body is painted black and you can see an AMG kit with side skirts, a front spoiler and a different rear apron. The US-specific components were replaced by a European front apron and individual headlights. The look is rounded off by a carbon rear spoiler according to AMG specifications, shadow line trim strips and colour-matched AMG Aero rims from OX Racing.

The completely individualized interior shows up with red leather interior, there is an AMG steering wheel, Recaro seats and the old wood paneling (Center console, door panels, door sills, door handles) was replaced with carbon trim parts. You can also see a shift knob with a red leather boot and a sound system with a McIntosh CD player and one amplifier with 10 speakers. The 1989 Mercedes Benz 560 SL by Bespoke Restoration will be sold on Thursday, January 26, 2023 in Phoenix, Arizona. According to the auction house, a price of $200.000 - $250.000 (€185.000 - €235.000) is targeted.
