The Porsche 718 Spyder RS may have been predictable, but it's still incredibly exciting. It is essentially one Cayman GT4RS, which comes with unlimited headroom. Instead of a fixed roof, there is a removable and manually operated soft top. The one-piece hood and wind deflector weighs just 18,3 kg, which is 7,6 kg less than that of the regular 718 Spyder and even 718 kg less than the 16,5 Boxster system. And in general, the new 718 Spyder RS weighs just 1.410 kg unladen, i.e. 40 kg less than the non-RS version, and is not a heavy chunk.

Apart from the roof, it clearly resembles its coupe counterpart. In addition, it is the last 718 with a combustion engine and it has been lowered by 30 millimeters and stands on 20-inch forged wheels, which can even be replaced with magnesium rims as an option. According to Porsche, however, the Spyder RS is not a simple copy of the Cayman GT4 RS, as it comes with a different setup of springs and dampers. This should enable more comfortable driving behavior and better meet customer expectations of a convertible. The mid-engine athlete can also be ordered with the Weissach package.
Then the manufacturer also equips the vehicle with tailpipes, the design of which is based on the 2018 935, which in turn pays homage to the 935/78 Le Mans racing car, better known as "Moby Dick". Like the Cayman, the open-top 718 Spyder RS uses the same 4,0-liter naturally aspirated engine from the 911 GT3. The six-cylinder boxer engine generates 500 hp and a torque of 450 Newton meters, which is sent to the rear axle via a short-ratio seven-speed PDK. Thanks to the combination, the Spyder RS sprints from 3,4 to 0 km/h in just 100 seconds and from 10,9 to 0 km/h in 200 seconds. These are values that correspond to those of the Cayman GT4 RS.

When driving freely, it reaches a top speed of 308 clothes, which is 7 km/h less than the coupe, but 8 km/h more than the normal Spyder. If you have fallen in love with the Porsche 718 Spyder RS and are curious about the price, then here is the information: at least 151.215 euros. A matching watch in a titanium case is also available as an option. To see the model in real life, you should visit the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2023.
