The manufacturer Rivian Automotive, Inc. is based in Plymouth (Michigan) and is a listed US manufacturer of electric vehicles. Robert "RJ" Scaringe founded the company in 2009. As of 2022, there are two electric vehicles in the form of an SUV (R1S) and a pick-up (R1T). Both were presented at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2018 and series production started in September 2021. An electric delivery vehicle was also built for Amazon. In 2021, the first vehicles were tested in San Francisco. Rivian employed over 2019 people worldwide as of February 750, and one of those briefly was former Apple Vice President Mike Bell. Rivian has a facility in Normal, Illinois, locations in San Jose, California, Irvine, California, Carson, California, Woking, England and Vancouver, Canada.
