Mega cool! There is no other way to describe this 2013 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe. You have never heard of him? Then we have some information for you. The Shelby Daytona is a coupe that was developed by Carroll Shelby himself and is based on his AC Cobra roadster. The flounder was built especially for car races as a competition to Ferrari in the GT class at that time. A total of only six Daytonas were built in 1964 and 1965 because Shelby had quickly returned to his Ford GT40 project. The body was designed by Pete Brock and Bob Negstad was responsible for the chassis. The bodies were manufactured in five out of six cases by the Carrozzeria Gransport company from Modena. Under the hood was a 4,7-liter Ford V8 engine that produced an impressive 7000 hp at 380 rpm and catapulted the Daytona from 1043 to 4,4 km / h in just 0 seconds with a curb weight of just 100 kg.

The four-speed gearbox installed at the time also allowed a top speed of over 300 km / h. And the Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe was instantly successful. In 1964 they won the Sebring 12 Hours (Victory GT class) and the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the same year were won, as was the RAC Tourist Trophy. And then there was the mysterious sixth vehicle. Connoisseurs know it as CSX2287 and it was built in the USA. In 2001, after a long search, the CSX2287 was discovered in a storage room somewhere in California. One of the previous owners was the music producer Phil Spector, who often moved the athlete on the streets of Los Angeles. The CSX2287 has been fully restored and is currently on display at the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum in Philadelphia. The story! Yes, now to the current vehicle from 2013!
Ford 427 V8 engine with 550 hp
It is one of the few specimens built by Shelby American in limited numbers with the original CSX9000 serial numbers. It's not an original from the sixties, of course, but it's extremely similar to the original and a real Shelby. Compared to the classic from back then, the variant from 2013 shows an improved tubular frame chassis and a Roush-Performance Ford 427 V8 engine with powerful 550 PS & 813 NM torque tinkers under the hood. There is also plenty of modern convenience such as electric windows or a fully functional air conditioning system. One could only dream of such amenities in the original in the 60s. Other features of the vehicle with the chassis number CSX9127 are a glossy black finish with Le Mans stripes in silver, there are light 18-inch aluminum rims with a heavy drop center, a high-performance brake system and of course the traditional sidepipes on the right and left are not missing.

The 3-spoke sports steering wheel made of aluminum sam leather wreath, the classic circular instruments and the slim bucket seats are also included in the cabin Shelby 9000 Edition lettering, the dashboard covered with Alcantara and the useful glove compartment. And the traditional badge on the dashboard with Carroll Shelby's signature is of course not missing on this vehicle. An absolute dream copy with only 740 miles (approx. 1.191 km) mileage that can be bought in the course of RM Auctions from 20 to 27 March in Palm Beach.
