We've talked about the Tesla Model S Plaid racer before Unplugged performance reported (see article below). And now it's ready for the upcoming 2022 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb and looks set to be one of the fastest electric vehicles at the event. Unplugged Performance places the heavily modified Model S Plaid in the hands of Randy Pobst for the planned trip. And the high-performance EV recently competed in the Hypercar Invitational event at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, showing off a variety of improved aerodynamic components designed to increase downforce at Pikes Peak. The highlights are of course the huge one front splitter, the front and rear exhibited Wheel arches, the fat side skirts and the incredibly huge one rear wing.
Tesla Model S Plaid for Pikes Peak
The wing at the rear is not only as high as the roofline of the Tesla, but also has huge ones on the sides end plates installed to support aerodynamics. Also is the big one rear diffuser extremely violent. And of course the standard chassis has also been replaced by a high-performance chassis and one all around Carbon-ceramic sports brake system as well as forged Rims Installed. Incidentally, the upgrades made to the 2022 car should not only be used on Pikes Peak, but later ensure that a new EV lap record is set at Laguna Seca.
