Environmentally friendly, affordable and safe - liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) combines many advantages and is therefore an alternative to conventional fuel for internal combustion engines. Also steadily rising fuel prices and the significantly lower CO2Emissions make the switch sensible. Damien, Head of Cross-Car Line Services at Dacia, explains why so many Dacia customers are extremely satisfied after switching to LPG and the Dacia ECO-G bifuel engines. He is certain: "Anyone who has switched to liquefied petroleum gas will never return to petrol!"

Liquid gas is now considered safe, reliable and easy to use. It is also cheaper because it offers a higher mileage. In addition, the bifuel units are cheaper to buy than diesel engines and emit less CO2 and fine dust. This means that drivers and the environment benefit equally from the drive variant.

“LPG is practical, economical, environmentally friendly and simple. LPG is Dacia through and through."
Damien, Head of Cross-Car Line Services at Dacia

LPG: a fuel that moves with the times

LPG is not a fad. It has been used as a fuel since 1979. The fuel alternative is most widespread in Korea, Russia, Thailand, Mexico and Turkey. In Europe, Poland, Ukraine and Italy are leading the way. “The spread of LPG in these countries is due either to the presence of large natural gas deposits or to tax incentives due to lower CO2Emissions, ”explains Damien. "Vehicles that run on liquid gas benefit from the Crit´Air 1 label in France, for example, and from the ECO label in Spain." because the petrol station network is thinner. There are around 28 million vehicles running on LPG around the world today.

LPG drive for the complete Dacia model range

In the past two years, sales of vehicles powered by liquefied petroleum gas have picked up speed, mainly because the prices for petrol and diesel have risen sharply. The registration of vehicles with gasoline / LPG bifuel engines is also increasing steadily. Dacia has been increasingly using LPG since 2010 and is currently the only manufacturer to offer LPG as an option for the entire model range. “Dacia has made LPG a profitable solution. In all models - from Sandero, Sandero Stepway, Logan, Duster to the new Jogger - liquid gas is offered under the ECO-G label, ”says Damien.

LPG is booming! In France, sales in the first half of 2021 quadrupled compared to 2020 and are even 2019 times higher than in 15. The considerable growth is primarily due to Dacia's attractive range: in 2020, 78 percent of new LPG registrations in France carried the Dacia emblem. The fantastic result emphatically underlines the new brand claim of the Dacia brand: "Simply good".

ECO-G: LPG without effort from Dacia

Since Dacia equips its models with LPG technology directly from the factory, customers benefit from the same reliability as conventionally powered combustion engines. In addition, there is the comprehensive manufacturer's guarantee and maintenance in the dense Dacia dealer network. Good arguments for many customers: In 2020, Dacia sold every fifth vehicle with LPG, in the first half of 2021 they account for 28 percent of all sales. "Dacia customers are very pragmatic: They are looking for a vehicle that is useful in everyday life. Thanks to the bifuel engine and its two tanks, LPG offers a range of more than 1.000 kilometers, with the new Dacia Sandero it is even 1.300 kilometers“Explains Damien.

Dacia's ECO-G offer has many advantages:

Practical: the trunk volume remains unchanged despite the second fuel tank. In Europe, LPG fuel is available at around 32.000 filling stations, i.e. around every fourth filling station. Economical: The engine requires around 15 percent more LPG than conventional fuel per 100 kilometers, but the average LPG price is around 40 percent cheaper. The purchase price of a Dacia ECO-G therefore pays for itself quickly. Due to the bifuel engine, the vehicle has two fuel tanks; the range is therefore more than 1.000 kilometers between tank fillings. In LPG mode, for example, the New Sandero ECO-G has a range of 1.300 kilometers. Environmentally friendly: 10 percent less CO is generated in LPG operation2-Emissions than with gasoline engines, but the torque and engine power are higher. In addition, almost no particles are produced during combustion, which means lower NOxEmissions means.
