In everyday life, the Mirai hardly differs from a combustion engine, except that it uses hydrogen instead of gasoline. It does not have a combustion engine, but a powerful electric motor. In our opinion, it would be nice if there was a little more variety in the tuning scene, and the Mirai with its fuel cell drive would be the ideal candidate for this. It is possible that the electric drive is technically outdated again, and the fuel cell with hydrogen is the ideal solution for the mobility of the future !? We are not clairvoyant, but in our opinion hydrogen has very good cards to function as the drive of the future, as it can be produced in a climate-neutral manner, can be refueled like gasoline and diesel, and offers enough power to drive automobiles powerfully and efficiently.

Performance of the Mirai completely sufficient

According to our information, the Toyota Mirai's fuel cell accelerates the almost five-meter-long car to 8 km / h in about 9 - 100 seconds. The maximum speed should be around 180 kilometers per hour, which would make the hydrogen Toyota completely sufficient for normal everyday life. More important than the driving performance, however, is the range of the vehicle, and thanks to the three hydrogen tanks built into the car, this is given as a travel-worthy 700 km. The tanks have space for 6 kilograms of hydrogen, and there are currently around 90 hydrogen filling stations in Germany, 85 of which are accessible around the clock. So it is absolutely necessary to inquire carefully before the journey whether you will find such a gas station on the way so that you do not end up with an empty tank.

Who is the Toyota Mirai for?

We think this vehicle is the ideal toy for eco-pioneers and tech nerds, provided you can afford the Mirai. A base price of 63.900 euros is no small feat when it comes to buying a new car. The Mirai is therefore aimed at a solvent eco-clientele who want to enjoy the future of driving now. It remains to be seen whether Toyota will manage to sell a few vehicles to men or women in Germany and how the used car prices for the Mirai will develop in the end.
