JDM madness: up to 1.000 hp in the Toyota Supra (A90) from MPS Engineering!

JDM fans who read the acronym MPS will certainly sit up and take notice. In the scene, MPS is primarily associated with sporty Mazda models from the 2000s, which some time ago were supposed to scare GTI and Co. In this case, however, "MPS" does not stand for the in-house sports department of the Hiroshima-based car manufacturer, but for a German tuning company whose founders are named Markus and Philipp Stegemann. The brothers used their initials to create the name of their company, which specializes in refining sporty vehicles from the Far East. So it's no wonder that the tuners also dared to approach the current Supra generation in order to give the Japanese cult athlete significantly more power and an even more stylish look. We now present the result in more detail.

Cult JDM parts on the icon

Of course, no carbon components should be missing from the modification list, which is why front spoiler and side skirts of the MPS-Supra are made of this ultra-light material. A homage to the previous generation Supra A80, which is better known as the Supra MK4, is the dominant one rear wing, which is also made of carbon fiber. Behind the legendary and extra light Ray's TE37-SL rims, which have a diameter of 19 inches, resides a so-called MPS-GR Big Brake Kit, which has powerful, perforated and grooved brake discs measuring 374×36 millimeters and four-piston fixed callipers on the front axle, and four-piston floating callipers and 345 mm brake discs on the drive axle. In addition to these features, a multi-adjustable Bilstein B16 coilovers for a safe and sporty ride at all times.

1.000 hp should soon be feasible

The three-liter R6 turbo petrol engine, which comes from the BMW shelf and delivers 340 hp as standard, has been completely modified. The strongest currently available online Turbo kit from MPS Engineering delivers almost 102 hp when using 700-octane fuel, but according to the tuning company that is by no means the end of the road. A performance in four-digit range is aimed at, but without TÜV approval. These are initially only available for the "small" 500 hp version of the performance kit. MPS Engineering does not provide any official information on performance and top speed, but both values should be more than sufficient for everyday use. Last but not least, it should be noted that this performance increase is also approved for all BMW models with the 3-liter R6 turbo petrol engine (B58), so that BMW tuners also get their money's worth.

Fast and Furious from Germany

The car-enthusiastic tuners not only know how to bring JDM vehicles to insane performance in Japan or the USA, but also in this country. MPS Engineering has clearly demonstrated this with this project. We definitely give it a thumbs up for that.
