It is not yet on the market, but has already won several awards: After two prizes from the internationally renowned Red Dot Award, the mobile air purifier AELUS from Rolfhartge GmbH from Überherrn / Saarland has now also won two German Innovation Awards. The German Innovation Award recognizes cross-industry products and solutions that differ from previous solutions primarily in terms of user focus and added value.

AELUS - German Innovation Awards

The new standard for the quality of the air in the automobile: Two German Innovation Awards for the AELUS from Rolfhartge

  • Effective protection against viruses, bacteria and fine dust through the HEPA H13 filter and patented photo catalysis sluice.
  • Handy air purifier for the vehicle interior.
  • Tested cleaning performance in a smart design

The AELUS meets all the criteria of accident prevention, the Federal Environment Agency and demanding motorists: At just 880 grams, it is significantly lighter than the limit of 1000 grams and cleans the air in an average vehicle cabin five to six times an hour. He uses a HEPA H13 filter and a patented photo catalysis sluice with UV-A / UV-C LEDs and titanium dioxide-coated filter fleece at the same time. With the AELUS, a patented photo catalysis sluice is being used in the automobile for the first time. The jury of the German Innovation Award recognizes this in two categories: “Excellence in Business to Consumer - Medical & Health” and “Excellence in Business to Business - Automotive Technologies”.

The Rolfhartge air purifier is in tune with the times. Apart from the current pandemic and virus-laden aerosols, air pollution is the greatest health risk in Europe. According to OECD studies, particulate matter pollution in city centers could even double by 2030. The smaller the dust particles, the greater the risk of getting sick. This is also confirmed by the World Health Organization (WHO), which concludes: Fine dust pollution should be as low as possible. The car pioneer Rolf Hartge has developed a solution for the vehicle interior for this purpose. “You want to feel comfortable and secure in the car. Today there is more to this than just a good crash test, ”says Managing Director Hendrik Hartge. “Together with automotive experts, we have developed an air purifier for the vehicle interior that optimally protects passengers from pollutants and pathogens such as viruses. Health is the greatest luxury, especially in these times. "

It is particularly noteworthy that Rolfhartge recognized and addressed this development even before the corona pandemic. In 2019, the Saarlanders took first place with the first prototype of the AELUS concept at the CSITF technology fair in Shanghai.

With the AELUS air purifier, all occupants of the vehicle can be protected - whether family, employees, customers or passengers. The AELUS is handy and is user-friendly. It can be inserted and removed from any vehicle in no time for use in the bedroom, hotel or office. It ensures better air wherever it is needed. Developed by automotive experts for today's mobile people.

“The particular challenge therefore lay in a compact, particularly light design that does not impair passenger safety,” says founder Rolf Hartge. "At the same time, it is so powerful that it provides a real cleaning effect." The AELUS was developed in close cooperation with the renowned automotive supplier Dr. Schneider group of companies whose patented photocatalysis technology has been incorporated into the product.

“The automobile is on the way to the third living space. We are the first company of its kind to harmonize technology - especially with regard to health, with design, style and exclusivity in vehicle interiors, ”says Hendrik Hartge. “In this way we are creating a completely new and fascinating kind of smart luxury, that is, luxury with innovative additional benefits. The time is ripe for a paradigm shift in order to meet the demands of today's customers on an exclusive level. For us, these prices are both a confirmation and an incentive. "

The AELUS can be pre-ordered from the end of May at www.aelus.de at the introductory price of 449 euros and will be available from July 2021. To guarantee effectiveness, the filter only needs to be replaced once or twice a year, depending on how it is used. A replacement filter costs 28 euros.

The cleaning takes place in 2 ways:

  • HEPA H13 filter with a high degree of separation for the finest particles, gases, pollen, bacteria, viruses, fungal spores, fine dust and aerosols - more than 99,98 percent for particles with a size of 0,3 micrometers. Filters of this class are also used in clean rooms and medical facilities. The HEPA filter is certified according to DIN EN1822.
  • The patented photo catalysis sluice from Dr. Schneider group of companies based on its PureVent technology with UV-A and UV-C LEDs in connection with the titanium dioxide-coated, self-cleaning filter fleece. The good virus-destroying effect of the photo catalysis sluice has been confirmed by the accredited test laboratory HygCen Germany GmbH in Schwerin.
  • An average vehicle cabin is cleaned 5 to 6 times an hour. In terms of filter performance and circulation rate, the AELUS thus complies with the recommendations of the Federal Environment Agency for the efficient control of SARS-CoV-2 indoors and thus represents a valuable addition to the usual precautionary measures.
