Camper chassis are subject to increased wear!

Mobile homes are usually built on van chassis and also "inherit" their chassis configuration. However, campers are significantly heavier due to their fixed installations. A thorough chassis check in the workshop is therefore recommended before the start of the new camping season. If the occupants of the mobile home notice spongy driving behavior or reduced driving comfort, the wear on the components is often already well advanced - because it is a gradual process. But long before this point, sudden evasive manoeuvres, sharp bends or strong crosswinds can lead to loss of control. If the shock absorbers are due for replacement, it is advisable to think about an upgrade in the form of the BILSTEIN B6 Camper or Camper Advanced. These product lines, which will be launched on the market in 2022, result in noticeably more comfortable and safer driving behavior at manageable costs. The installation effort is also no higher than with conventional shock absorbers. The program covers campers, both panel vans and semi-integrated vehicles, based on the Fiat Ducato (from 2006 onwards) and the largely identical vehicles from Citroën and Peugeot.

Benefits of BILSTEIN B6 Camper and Camper Advanced!

With the High performance shock absorbers BILSTEIN B6 Camper, the driving behavior can be significantly improved. Because here the damping properties were adjusted to the parameters of mobile homes in thousands of hours of driving tests. The special set-up results in increased safety in side winds and in curves thanks to optimal road grip and a more intensive driving experience thanks to high traction and precise handling. At the same time, there is more driving comfort. The reduction in driving noise through better damping contributes to this, as does the increase in comfort through the optimized rolling behavior on cobblestones and at level crossings.

The BILSTEIN B6 Camper Advanced works with amplitude-selective damping based on the DampMatic® principle. That is why it has a soft characteristic when cruising and a tight setting for evasive manoeuvres. The shock absorber selects one of two characteristic curves completely automatically based on a mechanical process based on the vibrations transmitted by the road. To put it simply, the DampMatic® principle works as follows: In the “soft setting”, the damper oil flows through both the main piston and a special bypass. If the vibration amplitude increases due to the driving situation, the control piston moves to its stop due to the sudden excitation. This closes the bypass and the entire volume flow is handled by the main spool. Since the resistance for the oil thus increases, the shock absorber behaves "tighter". Of course, that wasn't the end of it!
