Unique piece - 1972 GMC 1500 pickup as a restomod!

Do you realize that a GMC 1500 pickup truck cost less than $ 70 in the 5.000s? This line of thought should by no means be entertained when you are thinking about buying a used GMC 50 for around $ 1500 - almost 35.000 years later. However, this vehicle is a specimen that is guaranteed to never have left the factory. Due to the modern technology that was built in, that would not have been possible at all. Still, it's crazy to see the sums that are put on the table these days for an individual car. And $ 35.000 is not even a significant sum. Actually a bargain for this extensively restored and rebuilt GMC.

The fully restored copy is currently on display at Barrett-Jackson and can be bought directly. The GMC was completely restored about 2 years ago, with the builders reworking every single surface down to the last screw. No rust, no dent and no blemish! There is also a 5,3-liter Vortec V8 under the hood in combination with a modern 4L60E four-speed automatic transmission, which can easily produce over 300 hp and approx. 500 Nm torque. Exact key data are unfortunately not known at the moment. Incidentally, the chassis was chosen for an Airride air suspension, which lets the pickup up and down at the push of a button. The chassis is combined with many specially manufactured components such as new upper and lower A-arms. The driver controls the GMC 1500 with a modern rack and pinion system and Wilwood sports brake system ensures all-round deceleration.

And of course we don't want to miss the two-tone 20-inch Boss wheelset. It is painted in Flame Red PPG to match the body and sits with millimeter accuracy in the wheel arches when the chassis is lowered. The GMC 1500 from the early 70s also has modern sports seats with black and red leather upholstery, there are new AutoMeter displays, an adjustable steering column and a cool billet steering wheel is installed. The completely redesigned cabin is impressively rounded off with technical highlights such as a modern air conditioning system or a full sound system with a 12 inch (approx. 30 cm) subwoofer and amenities such as electric windows, central locking and electrically adjustable rear-view mirrors.
