Many keep that VW Up GTI (VW120 series) for the true successor to the Golf GTi (MK1). And the lively VW EA211 three-cylinder with turbocharger in combination with an empty weight of only 997 to 1.067 kilograms (Depending on the equipment) is actually well suited to annoy one or the other compact car. That's how it was back then with the MK1 GTi. The 1,0-liter three-cylinder turbo engine delivers 115 hp ex works, and that's enough to have a lot of fun with the Up GTI. But this copy has almost 50 percent more efficient. And stately 168 PS.

168 hp from the 1,0-liter three-cylinder from VW

And if we assume that this vehicle actually weighs only 997 kg, ours will calculate it Power-to-weight calculator a power to weight ratio of only 5,80 kg per hp. A VW Golf GTi (MK7) is worse off with 6,23 kg per hp and the MK1 GTi is also a good piece with 7,18 kg per hp behind it. The following video shows: You need no big engine, lots of power or lots of money to have fun with.

Thomas Wachsmuth - He has been an integral part of tuningblog.eu since 2013. His passion for cars is so intense that he invests every available penny in them. While he dreams of a BMW E31 850CSI and a Hennessey 6x6 Ford F-150, he currently drives a rather inconspicuous BMW 540i (G31/LCI). His collection of books, magazines and brochures on the subject of car tuning has now reached such proportions that he himself has become a walking reference work for the tuning scene.  More about Thomas
